UPDATE FROM WEYBURN

I drove to Weyburn after the 8:30 service at Trinity, Torquay on Sunday.  After a visit with Howard at Tatagwa View I went for brunch at the Sidetrack Cafe with Jodi, Abbey, Laurel and Ashley. (Clare and friend Warren were busy finishing up the installation of a new washer and dryer in the back entry!)

Laurel and Ashley took in the morning service at Zion with Jodi and Abbey. Ashley even went downstairs for Sunday School with Abbey.  They were practising for their upcoming Christmas program on Dec. 19th.  Abbey said that Ashley fit right in, stood in the front row where the director placed her and did her best to keep up with the actions to the songs.  She loves music and moving to it!  Ashley was so proud of the star that she helped decorate.

Laurel and Ashley visited Howard after lunch.  He was quite confused.  I went up later, but he was having an afternoon nap.  I sat down in the chair by his bed and read the latest Readers Digest until he woke up.  He talks a lot about things and people in the past.  When one of the residents came to call him for supper at five he commented "There's my number one pest!"  Supper looked good - roast beef, potatoes and corn, all prepared in the kitchen by the staff.

I went back to Clare and Jodi's and enjoyed a barbequed steak supper, juicy and tender.  Then we watched curling from Medicine Hat.  Sorry, Alberta fans, but we were happy to see Howard defeat Martin!

I had such a good sleep and am ready for whatever this week brings.  Tomorrow Howard has a CT scan at the General Hospital in Regina.  Clare plans to take him up for that.  I haven't talked to the doctor but I suspect they may be checking for a tumor as a possible cause of  his sudden change in behavior.  I'll keep you informed as soon as we get the results of the scan.

My plan is to go to Milestone this afternoon and stay until Wednesday.  I'll visit Howard again on the way home that afternoon.  I ground some whole wheat flour for Laurel so maybe we'll do some baking along with some cleaning and decorating for Christmas.

It's a lovely frosty morning but I left my camera at home so no pictures!

Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.  It means a lot. Howard can have visitors at #10 Tatagwa View.  There's also a phone number where the residents can take calls at 842 -8685.  It's available from 8am to 10pm but he is usually in bed by nine.  His address is #10 Tatagwa View, 808 Souris Valley Rd, Weyburn SK S4H 2Z9.

Have a good week, the second one in Advent.

  1. Oh Elaine, I am sorry, we've been through a busy spell and I had not checked your blog until now. I had no idea. Howard, you and the family are in my prayers.
