JUNE

I was getting ready for bed last night when I realized that I hadn't posted a blog!  But I decided it could wait for today, so here I am on Monday morning.  It's a dreary site looking at the sky with clouds, wind and a chance of rain.  But looking at the yard, it's a gorgeous day with lush green grass, the leaves out in full force on all the trees, a few tulips still blooming, the apple trees loaded with blossoms.  I think June is the nicest month of the year!

There isn't a lot to report since my last post on Thursday so this might be a short post.  I went to morning worship at Trinity on Sunday.  Phil lead the service and gave the message, always does a super job.  Vi played the electric piano that was Lilah's and given to Trinity.  The feature that we like is that it transposes, making many of our hymns more singable.  Not many of us can sing those high notes!  We gather in the auditorium for coffee and goodies after worship.  That fellowship is great!

I don't usually do yard work on Sunday but with the threat of rain today I spent most of a beautiful day cutting grass and rototilling. I had never seen the grass so high in places!  The lawn mower wasn't working earlier so I was glad that Clare checked it over and had it going again.  The rhubarb patch was almost hidden with tall grass.  Now that it's visible again, I better go out and pick some and make a batch of rhubarb and strawberry sauce.  I'm also enjoying fresh asparagus.

Abbey had a busy weekend as she had a ball tournament in Moose Jaw.  The rain worked out for good as Clare got to see her play too.  It was a two day tournament and Abbey's team were gold medal champs, winning all four of their games. Congratulations girls!   My niece's two girls were playing on a Moose Jaw team so Clare's got to visit with Jody and Tanya too.  On their way back to Weyburn they stopped by Laurel and Greg's for a visit, and went home with some fresh rhubarb pie!

Clare plans to come down to the farm this morning, but by the looks of the radar, the rain isn't far away, just waiting to move across the border from Montana and North Dakota.  So seeding might not resume for a few days.

We hear stories about the devastating tornado damage in the southern states and feel quite safe here in SK.  But Maple Creek area experienced a tornado yesterday afternoon with hail, heavy rain and flooding in the streets.  I haven't heard reports of other damage though but it's a reminder that tornados can occur in our province too if conditions are just right.

I should have taken before and after pictures of my yard, but I really wouldn't have wanted you to see the "before" ones so you are spared any pictures today.  So that's it for this post.  It's short, but you'll know what I've been up to anyway.  See you later this week.
