HAPPY CANADA DAY!

HAPPY CANADA DAY FRA NORGE!

I couldn't find a Canada picture in my "Inspiration" file so had to take a picture of my Canada Day display on top of my china cabinet.  The plate is from Canada's centennial in 1967 so is now 46 years old.  We celebrated our first wedding anniversary that year.  I gave Howard this pen holder with 1967 coins.  He gave me a maple leaf pin engraved with 1867-1967.  Don't ask what we exchanged the next year or the years after!
We usually celebrated Canada Day at Oungre so I plan to go there tomorrow and take in the Jamboree.  It starts at 1:00 and features local groups, the Daae Family and the Hansens, as well as guest singers.  It takes place in the rink so it's usually quite cool there even on a hot day.

I had a busy weekend!  On Saturday morning I went to Ambrose Post Office to get a parcel off to Todd and to pay my box rental.  The annual horse show was on that day so I stopped in to visit Nicole Burtman from Wildrose.  She and Laurel went to college together in Williston.  I was able to see one of her girls compete before I headed for Estevan to see Abbey play ball.  I got to see her play three different positions - pitching, third base and first base.  Today she played three games in Moose Jaw and will be playing two in Weyburn on Tuesday.

I bought a few more plants at Peavey Mart before heading home.  They are sitting beside the house for a few days to get used to these outside conditions.

Today I went right to the quilt show after our coffee time gathering at Trinity.  Torquay Cafe is open again after being closed for six months while Jason was in China.  Quite a few went over for lunch but I declined today as I wanted to spend lots of time viewing those 243 quilted items! They are works of art!  I took some pictures but Christa has good coverage on her "Second Story Quilting" blog so you can check them out there or on Tracey's newly updated "Block Party Quilt Guild" blog.  Just click on the links on the right side of this blog post.

When I drove home I had two surprises.  One was the sight of a new oil well drilling rig about  a mile south of the farm. I can see the lights from the living-room window so I have a new "neighbour".  The other surprise was to find that the shaggy grass had been nicely trimmed!  Clare had come down with chemical for the sprayer so had the lawn mower going while he was here.

This evening I drove up to Salem to water plants, then went to Ron and Gail for eggs.  When I came back I took a picture of the new rig just as it was getting dark.  It doesn't look very big in this picture but it's about a mile away.  The trees in the distance are at the "Tenold School corner" so the well must be about a 1/2 mile or so south of there.  I'll check it out on my morning walk.
Happy Canada Day to those of you who are Canadians.   Americans will have your turn to celebrate on Thursday!
