Last week of June

A "Welcome to Plentywood" barn with picnic tables

I was going to name this post "Water Woes" as that's certainly what many people are experiencing this week in Alberta.  Calgary has been hard hit, along with the smaller cities of Canmore, High River. Now Medicine Hat is preparing for the river's peak tomorrow morning.  Heavy rains in mountain areas on top of snow cover resulted in floods that came with little warning.

I should have named it "Computer Woes" as I had this post just about ready to publish, went to check on another picture and when I returned all my pictures and comments were gone.  It's 11 p.m. so I'm not going to start over tonight!  In the morning I'm off to Plentywood, Montana to meet with cousins Myrna and Ernie Damm from Pocatello.  Ernie grew up in Culbertson, MT and they are visiting in the area this month.  So this will be it for tonight and I'll update when I get back tomorrow afternoon.

Make that, Monday evening!  Yes, I'm back from a pleasant drive to Plentywood (except for the stretch of construction between the Williston turnoff and almost to Fortuna) and back.  It was different to be taking that drive by myself but that's how life is now.  I got there shortly after ten thirty and we headed to "Cousins" for a tasty brunch.  Then Myrna and I were off to explore some of the stores.  We started at "Shopko", my first visit there as last time it was a Pamida store.  I soon found that I needed a cart as several items came home with me.  Then we were off to "Little Muddy Dry Goods" and I'll show you a picture of one of my purchases.
Psalm 121, the psalm that Howard always read  before we travelled
A hummingbird -  came to the window of his room as he was dying,
another was outside the living-room window when we got home
This shirt "had my name on it".

Ernie and Myrna were off to visit an uncle and another cousin so I made a stop at the Supervalu store before heading home.  It was so great to meet up with these cousins when they weren't much more than an hour from the farm.

Now, back to my lost blog.  The grandkids have been busy with end of the school year activities.  Here are pictures from Kirk's three at Lampman fun and fitness day.

Lindsay and her ribbons
Lindsay also was on a ball team.  Here she is up to bat.

Jamie had a birthday baking day at school even if her birthday falls the end of July.

Abbey had two double header ballgames on the weekend, winning three out of the four.  Way to go, team!   Here's a picture of the weekend before when she took part in Weyburn's Relay for Life.

Laurel's boys enjoyed their track and field day too and Ashley had fun at the playground.

Eric and friends under Ashley's pink umbrella!

I haven't talked to Kirk since he got back from his quick trip to Chicago for the fifth game in the Stanley Cup finals.  I know that he wasn't happy with the game results, and tonight the series finished with Chicago the champions.  It's time for hockey to be over when it's the last week in June!

And now it's time for me to head off to bed before this post  gets any longer, or disappears before my eyes.  I hope there are no thunderstorms tonight but rain is in the forecast  -  again!
