Busy Days

It's Thursday and no blog post yet, Kristy!  I better get with it this morning, especially since I slept in and have a long TO DO list for the day.  Tomorrow I am off to Metochos Bible Camp along with Vickie.  Registration is at six, the program starts at seven and ends around five on Saturday afternoon.  It's a womens retreat put on by Trinity Lutheran in Estevan.  I'll tell you more about it on Sunday.  The forecast includes the chance of thunderstorms so the evening campfire might not happen!

Yesterday I was busy working up the area under the apple trees and evergreens.  Two years ago when it was so wet, the area went from being worked to a growth of weeds, especially dandelions.  I didn't do much yard work last summer and was gone to Norway for three weeks so yardwork was neglected.  Time to take action!  With all the rains we've had, the ground was nice and mellow so worked up great with my faithful rototiller.  I had cut the weeds twice so that certainly helped.  I would rather keep the ground black than mow weeds so hopefully that will happen this summer.  The apple trees were loaded with blossoms but there was a lot of rain during that time and not many bees around. I'm not sure if many blossoms were pollinated.  Time will tell.

On Monday our ladies from Trinty, Torquay enjoyed visits to two care homes in Estevan.  We met at St. Joseph's at 3:30 with a short program and a time of visiting the residents.  Two of them, Willie and Pearl, are former residents of  Torquay community so it was good to spend time with them.  I have gotten to know several of the residents since Howard and Aunt Viola lived there.  It was different not to have Aunt Viola at our program.  We missed Ken, but he was out for a drive that lovely afternoon.

Our group met at EB's for supper at 5:30 so got in on their Monday night Senior specials!  I had my phone along but no pictures were taken so I don't have any to share with you.  Then we were off to Hillview Manor for a program and lunch there.  We had brought goodies to go with the coffee and tea, but the activity worker wasn't working that evening, so no coffee or tea had been made.  No problem!  A couple of our ladies took over that duty and soon we were all enjoying visiting over our evening lunch.  I enjoyed chatting with 103 year old Audrey.  She was born in 1910 so think of all the changes that she has seen in her lifetime!  It is encouraging to see someone who is still enjoying life and knows what's going on around her when she's over one hundred.  She's in a wheelchair but wheeled away on her own, wrapped the rest of her lunch in a napkin to have later as she doesn't go to bed until 11 or so!!

I spent a good part of Tuesday going through some of Howard's things.  It's time to share them with the kids and grandkids so I plan to send some of those things home with them this weekend.  The display that was set up on the living-room shelves after his passing has been there for more than a year now.  I am ready to let go. I will still have this picture.

Well, I better get off the computer and tackle that list.  It's the house that needs attention today so better get at it.  See you on Sunday (or maybe Monday morning!)
