It was great to have seven of our grandchildren and five of their parents at the farm yesterday. My intentions were to go through some of Howard's things with them but I guess it wasn't the right time yet. The boys didn't want to take down the display of Howard's things, said they like looking at it when they come, so it will stay there.
I hardly saw the older grandchildren until they came in to eat! They were outside having fun playing ball with their parents and then playing football on the lawn. Jamie and Ashley were busy having tea parties in the basement, with REAL food and juice. They both sat in Grandpa's chair and watched a movie together.
When Laurel's came they brought a bouquet of six red roses and Ashley explained to me "That's your husband's favourite colour". They also brought a red helium balloon that they released at Salem cemetery on their way home. So Grandpa was well remembered on this second Fathers Day after his passing. We had a turkey supper, not his favourite meal. He would have enjoyed the fruit salad, the Saskatoon pie and the lemon layered dessert that the girls brought to go along with it.
I also enjoyed my overnight stay at Metochos Ministries bible camp on Friday night. There was a severe thunderstorm warning earlier on Friday afternoon so I wasn't sure if I wanted to be driving up to camp on gravel roads for the last six miles. But the storm was over by four and had moved north so Vickie and I left Torquay around 5:30 as registration was from six to seven. The stretch of road leading from highway 39 to the camp was fairly muddy in places so I was glad to have four wheel drive! It was wonderful to be together again with ladies from the Weyburn Conference. Thanks to Trinity Lutheran Women at Estevan for planning this retreat and getting us back together again in such a lovely facility.
Pictures don't do it justice. These lovely tall windows look out on the water flowing by amidst the lush green prairie grass in this land of living skies. Such a beautiful, peaceful setting!
Abbey had a busy weekend as she was on a team taking part in Weyburn's Relay for Life on Friday night. Her team raised $3,000 so did very well. It was an all nighter so it's a good thing she was able to sleep for a few hours on Saturday.
