APPLE BLOSSOM TIME

Apple blossom time
Ashley picking apple blossoms
(but she really wished they were apples!)
The rain started here around eleven this morning.  Clare had worked until 1:00 a.m. to finish the seeding on the three quarters here at home so it was great to get that done. He got started on another quarter south-east of here but that is now in a rain delay.  Forecasts vary, but two inches or more is a possibility over the next two days.

I planted some peas this morning as they like it cool.  My tomato plants are looking good.  I bought a couple zucchini and cucumber plants when I was in Estevan on Monday and planted them in tires also. I see a few potato plants are up, along with even more weeds!  The grass should have been cut before the rain but the mower is at the neighbours so it will have to wait.

This is kind of a "catch up" blog, at least for the grandchildren.  Here are some of the activities they have been involved in this past while.

The next pictures are from Lindsay and Jamie's dance recital in Lampman on May 11.  Laurel, Ashley and I enjoyed watching the girls perform and having a BBQ supper at Kirk's afterwards.  Those family get togethers are special.

(she hit a triple!)
Abbey is busy playing ball.  She was in a tournament in Regina last weekend.  Their team won the first three games, advancing to the final on Sunday afternoon.  Unity was just too tough for Weyburn but they did so well getting second place in a twelve team tournament, the first of the season.
On Wednesday evening they played in Estevan so these pictures are from that game.  They are scheduled to play in Moose Jaw this weekend, weather permitting.  Second cousins, Madison and Macey Howell, are in the same tournament!

I enjoyed Ashley's visit this week.  She went home on Wednesday after our visit to Estevan Regional Nursing Home.  Our accordion group played for the monthly birthday party so Ashley wore her dance costume and tap shoes and danced along with our music.  One of the staff members joined her for a few numbers and had fun trying to follow Ashley's moves.  One of the birthday "girls" was Mrs. Mellom who turned 101 this month.  Her daughter, Bea, is married to Dave Bergum, Howard's cousin.  Dave and Bea are in Estevan this week, but were in Weyburn visiting that afternoon so we just missed them.  They are Laurel's godparents so it would have been so special to have had a visit with them when Laurel and Ashley were with me.

I think that brings me up to date on the goings on of our grandchildren, but I must add the one in Norway!  Here's her latest picture, a video of her having a good time.
