Weather Woes

My three grandsons - Eric, Carter and Dawson
After the quick change in the weather on Tuesday afternoon, I'm getting cautious about going out on these roads if there's a possibility of snow and wind in the forecast!  I hadn't been home from quilting very long when the wind came up and visibility was very poor.  It was mild enough so that snow stuck to the road. There were three fatalities on the highways in the Regina/Estevan area that day, all involving collisions with semis.

There's a cold front moving across the south-east today with a storm watch issued for the Ambrose ND area for tonight and tomorrow.  Heavy snow and winds are forecast.  I don't mind being snowed in at home, but I don't want to get caught on the roads.  So I decided to stay home today instead of going to Estevan.  Our Torquay Grannies had planned to go along with Pastor Danny this morning for services at the Nursing Home at ten and at St. Joseph's Special Care Home at eleven.  Vi and I both "chickened out" but I think Vickie still plans to go and play the piano for their hymn sing.

From Estevan I was hoping to go to Midale for the funeral service for Elvey Martinson.  His wife, Nina (Knutson) is a cousin of Howard's mother so there is a family connection.  The road from Estevan to Midale has not been good this week

That's as far as I got this morning and now it's soon five p.m. and no storm here yet.  Laurel says it's snowing in Milestone area and I see there's no travel advised on #1 highway around Moose Jaw.

I didn't have any pictures for this post but Laurel sent some from their New Years Eve at the Spa in Moose Jaw so I have added a few.  The evening activities were geared for families with fun activities at the pool.

We made it past midnight!
I made a quick trip to Ambrose for the mail at noon.  Crews are busy south of the border putting in a new power line and an oil pipeline.  That area is part of the "oil boom" too.

Well, I'm ready for the snow storm.  Clare was here this afternoon and got things closed up around the yard so now "let it snow".  I have a fresh batch of flatbread all to myself, but do need to bake bread tomorrow.  I'll curl up on the sofa tonight and watch a Hallmark movie.  Stay safe all of you in southern Saskatchewan!  Oh yes, I might have some Scrabble pals who are making moves tonight too.

  1. Elaine, Good Evening. I have a pink Norwegian sweater that mom picked up at Hostfest. Maybe you would like it for Nora. Emma barely wore it and I passed it onto Josie, but she barely wore it. The sweater was too itchy for the girls. I will try to get it to you to at least take a look. Happy New Year.
