My first week has flown by and just a week from now I will be flying back to Regina. We have seen a variety of weather this past week, including a thunderstorm and an inch of rain. The annual rainfall in Yuma is just over three inches so they've already gotten a third of their average! The rest of this week is forecast to be in the upper seventies so that sounds great, especially since the forecast for Torquay area is for minus thirties later this week. I'm glad I'll be missing that!
We went grocery shopping this morning and are going to an RV park for hamburgers at noon. Ernie and Myrna have dancing lessons this afternoon and are dropping me off at Charlene and Lorne Hansons so that will work out well. Myrna said they used to live at "Country Roads Resort" before they bought their condo at Mesa de Sol so they are familiar with that area.
This evening we are going to another concert downtown. Myrna and Ernie have season tickets for several series so I'm getting in on five of them.
Yesterday morning Myrna and I stopped by their church to see the quilters in action. We were just in time for coffe and a yummy cake made by one of the husbands. Husbands of two of the quilters were born in Ambrose, ND so they even knew about Torquay! The church bell was donated by one of those families and came from a farm near Ambrose. Small world! One neat idea that the the quilters were using to raise the tables up to a better height for cutting - pieces of white PVC pipe under the four table legs. It worked great!
Well, it's soon time for lunch so I better sign off for now. Keep warm!!
It really is a small world when you start talking to people and finding out about their life. Hope you enjoy the warm weather!!
