EPIPHANY

Yes, the Christmas season is officially over as January 6 is Epiphany.  I usually leave my Christmas decorations up until that date.  They are still up so I guess it's still Christmas here.  I'm like four year old Ashley, sad that Christmas is over.  I'm still working on my "New Year's letters" so I'm hanging on to the season as long as I can.

The congregation at Trinity had a nice surprise on Sunday after worship.  We usually gather in the auditorium for coffee and fellowship after the service. But we were treated to a noon luncheon by the Daae family in honour of Blair's birthday, which is on Monday.  (My boys should have been there as slushburgers were their favourite birthday party meal.  Todd even made them for some of his volleyball team in Norway and they were a big hit there, no matter what name they go by!)

We had to check out the new furnace at Trinity too.  It was installed this past week, just in time to keep us cosy when we start quilting on Tuesday.  We have changed from Mondays as Kids Club meets in the auditorium every Monday after school.  They are needing 20 mens shirts to use as paint shirts so have a good turnout of children from Torquay and area.  Pastor Danny and Cindy Daae are in charge of this program.

Todd, Kristy and Nora are safely back in Kristiansund.  It was good to get Todd's call from the airport at noon on Friday.  There were two cars to meet them with all their luggage - five bags plus Nora's carriage!  On Saturday their friend Gunn took Nora for a walk while they unpacked.  Today Todd is back at work at Swire while Kristy enjoys her maternity leave at home.  Todd is also entitled to twelve weeks of parenting leave.  They can't both be on paid leave at the same time so another extended holiday in Canada will be planned for a future visit.  The perks of life in Norway!!  Here's a picture of Nora sleeping in her "big bed" in her own room for the first time.  Perhaps the eight hour time change was confusing for her as she ended up sleeping in three different beds that night!  I haven't heard how she's been doing since the first night.
I love my soother!
Nora was blessed with this furniture from her
godparents, Rolf and Ruth Hansen as their youngest has
outgrown the crib and change table!

These are pictures of Nora's room all ready for her arrival, taken when Sandra and I visited Todd and Kristy last July/August.

I didn't get to Estevan for a haircut last Thursday as the weather was so blustery that day so I'm going in on Monday.  I see the Floor Store has a sale on floor covering so I'll stop by there as I have several floors that need updating.  The original carpet from 1979 is still in use in the living-room and bedrooms so it might be time for a change!!  I've also been studying flyers from Menard's in Minot so I'll let you know if I make any big decisions.

It's back to school today for Dawson and Eric after an extra long break.  Abbey, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie went back last week.  Hockey is back in full swing for the boys and also for the "big boys" in the NHL according to newscasts.  The "Super Bowl" will soon be here for fans of American football so they will be happy to have hockey to watch when football season ends.

Have a great week.  Hope to see some of you at quilting on Tuesday.  Everyone is welcome to join us at 9:30 at Trinity.  We have some fantastic potluck dinners!
