RAINY DAYS IN YUMA

We woke up to rain again this morning but I'm not complaining about this weather.  After all it's a warm rainy day.  I'll take this any day compared to freezing rain or a snowstorm!

Last night we enjoyed a "sixties concert" by Jay and the Americans  who have been singing together for fifty years, with different "Jays" singing the lead part over the years.  We had second row seats so were right up front.  The drummer was too loud for our liking but maybe he thought this crowd of seniors were hard of hearing.  If we weren't before the concert, we might be now!  I recognized a few of their songs and we enjoyed being back in the sixties for an hour or two.  Concerts start early here, usually at seven, so the old folks can get home to bed!

I enjoyed the Arts and Crafts show yesterday while Ernie and Myrna were off to their dancing lesson.  The Sons of Norway booth were giving out samples and the recipe for their lefse treats so I'll pass on their recipe.

 LEFSE (or Tortilla)  ROLL UPS

8 oz. sour cream
8 oz. cream cheese
1/4 cup green olives, chopped
1/4 cup black olives, chopped
1 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/8 tsp Seasoning salt

8 to 10 lefse or tortilla

DIRECTIONS
Mix all ingredients. Spread on lefse.  Roll up tightly and wrap in Saran wrap.
Let sit 8 hours (or overnight) in refrigerator.
Unwrap, cut into 1/2" - 3/4"slices.
This can be frozen and taken out as needed.

I am anxious to try these.  I'm sure you can substitute ingredients too.  I think I'll substitute red and green peppers for the olives!

This afternoon we are going to hear a Men's Chorus from Glendale, CA.  Then we'll take in some accordion music by a local group.  This evening we are off to "My Fair Lady" by a local drama group.  So the rain isn't putting a damper on our activities!

Sunday morning we are attending the 9:30 service at Gloria de Christo Lutheran Church where Myrna and Ernie are associate members.  The rest of the day is unplanned, so far!  Maybe we need a day of rest.
