| Elaine and Myrna in Yuma |
I am not keeping much of a schedule to my blog posts but will give you an update this morning. It's another sunny day, back to normal weather for Yuma after cool, cloudy and even rainy days earlier this week.
On Wed. morning we took in a Farmers Market in the parking lot of a church not far from here. It was a cool morning so jackets felt good. There were numerous tables set up with items for sale. We mostly looked. Myrna and I bought some pendants made from rocks. Mine is heart shaped from rock near Medford, Oregon. I like to buy things that are made by local people so that's my "souvenir" from Yuma.
After the farmer's market we drove downtown to the "Garden Cafe" as it was my turn to cook! We really did eat in a garden, lots of trees and birds. Propane heaters felt good as it was still a bit on the cool side for eating outdoors. In fact most of the pictures show me in my plaid jacket from Norway.
I could shed my jacket in the afternoon when we drove out to the sand dunes just into California. There were sand dunes as far as you could see. They have sand storms instead of blizzards! It wasn't busy yesterday but on weekends and holidays it's full of vehicles driving around in the sand. You'd have fun on Big Red out there, Clare.
We also visited Quarterlmaster Depot where supplies came on the Colorado River during the Civil War. You'd have enjoyed touring that, Alan. They also had a traveling display from Alcatraz with articles and films from that historic site. The depot is now a State Historic Park.
This afternoon Ernie has a doctor's appointment. They are dropping me off at Wayne and Lorraine Shirley's place in Sundance RV Park. It's just a mile or so east of here.
This evening we are going to another show at the Yuma Historic Theatre downtown. This one features an Irish group. I think I'll enjoy this one more than the blues one on Tuesday.
It sounds like I am missing some very COLD temperatures and windchills today in SK. Minus 40 is COLD and exactly the same whether you measure in F or C!
The timing of your trip is impeccable! I am so happy for you. Enjoy your trip! I'm making due with the woodstove, cozy fires, and hot cocoa.... but would much prefer being in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteYes, the timing was great. Even cool weather in Yuma feels great to me. Today is my last day here as we are heading for an overnight stay in Phoenix tomorrow. The time has flown by on a wonderful holiday.
