WEDNESDAY WORD - HOT!

Yes, it's been a hot, windy Wednesday. It was a busy day too.  I have visitors at the farm.  Clare is here for the harvest.  Carter came with Kirk last Friday and is staying until school starts on Sept 4th.  Yesterday Lindsay and Jamie joined us as Kirk and Shauna are off on a trip to Quebec City. Jodi brought Abbey down this afternoon as Jody is back at school all this week.   So Grandma has lots of help.  I told the girls that we are going to go on a spider web hunt tomorrow.  Last week when Ashley was here she commented on all the spider webs in Grandma's house so we are going to get rid of them tomorrow, Ashley!

This afternoon Lindsay and Jamie came with me to Estevan as our accordion group played at two seniors homes.  We went to Valleyview at 1:30 and to St. Joseph's at 3:30.  The girls had lemonade and cake at the first and ice cream sundaes at the second.  They earned them though as they used up a lot ot energy dancing to our music.  I'm sure the residents enjoyed that as much or more than the playing that we did.  I guess we were a good combination.  I was so busy playing the accordion that I didn't think to take any pictures.  We got home around six and I didn't even have to make supper as Jodi and Abbey came with KFC!

Tonight the girls and I watched the movie "Heidi".  I remember reading and rereading the book when I was a young girl.  It's still one of my favourite stories, along with "The Secret Garden".   I am compiling a list of ten books that I would take to a deserted island (or maybe to a care home!) and those two would be competing for a spot on the list.  Someday that list will be my blog posting.

Most of our grandchildren are making use of this last week of holidays before school starts the day after Labor Day.  Abbey, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie are all at Grandma's, Dawson and Eric are at a Bible Camp near Lumsden for three days.  Ashley is the only one at home this week.  She had her holiday last week when she was here for VBS.  She will be off to play school two afternoons a week so is excited about that.

I'm hoping that I can report the arrival or a new grandchild on my next posting!  The due date is this Friday but babies don't always abide by that so we'll just have to wait patiently for its arrival.  As soon as members of the family have been informed, the news will be on my blog and likely Facebook too!

It's quiet in the rest of the house so I'm going to make this a short post tonight and call it a day too.  Have a great rest of the week and keep cool!
