COPENHAGEN - Day Two

Cold meat, cucumbers, tomatoes and jam
favourite toppings for all kinds of breads
along with many kinds of cheese

Cereals and toppings for yogurt
fresh fruits, juice, milk, tea and coffee were all available

Time for a "Danish"
Tuesday morning we headed to the breakfast room where we could feast on just about any kind of breakfast that we wanted.  My favourite is still yogurt with fruit and granola and that was available along with bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cheeses and bread that you sliced yourself.  There was even a kids table with cereal, nutella, and crepes along with chocolate milk.  Just off the breakfast room was a room especially for the children where they could watch TV or play while mom and dad finished their breakfast.

This was the first hotel where we had to "check in" as we came into the breakfast room.  We were asked for our room number and names.  The info was entered on a chart.

Ready for our tour of Copenhagen

We had decided to take the city and harbour tour this morning so headed for the bus stop right after breakfast.  It was just a couple blocks away.  Something that we saw everywhere we went were bikes and more bikes.  Copenhagen is very flat so an ideal city to use bicycles.  There are even lanes reserved for bikes on many of the busy streets.

One of many parking lots for bikes that we saw

Some had loads in front of the bike

Other loads were at the back!
A popular tourist site is "The Little Mermaid" from Hans Christian Andersens fairy tales.  Tour buses were lined up so people could see this statue by the water and have your picture taken with her.  We also had our picture taken with a statue of Denmark's famous writer of fairy tales.

Duck your heads!

Merv would have loved this scene!

Riding past buildings new
and buildings old

We even saw a display of sandcastles

Here's a close up of those sandcastles -
definitely not made by children

We had sore necks from looking up at so many tall buildings

Time to duck again!
This time the captain even had to put the windshield down on the boat!

Denmark, Sweden and Norway

I thought two postings would cover our two days in Copenhagen but I think I need one more to finish it off so look for a last one soon.
Cruise ships docked in the harbour
bring lots of tourists to the city
