LAST POST FROM NORWAY

This is my last chance to post a blog in Norway as we fly out of K tomorrow morning at 9:30.  Our suitcases are getting packed so we will soon be set to leave this beautiful place.  We have had a few days after our mountain trip to see more of the Kristiansund area.

On Friday morning Sandra and I spent part of the morning at a ladies shop downtown.  We tried on quite a few things but ended up with one item each - slacks for her and a beige jacket for me.
On the bus to Averøy

We met Todd at the "fish lady", a statue at the harbour, and he helped us get on the right bus to Averøy where we would visit Odd Bjorn and Else.  Odd Bjorn worked in western Canada for twelve years from the age of 18 and still loves Canada.  He is happy for a chance to speak English.  But when he met us at the bus he was talking Norsk to us until he got in the car and realized that he should switch to English!

We enjoyed a sunny warm day in the country and had Brus (their pop) on the deck before going in for the main meal of the day known as middag.  We were back on the deck for strawberries and ice cream.  Later on we went for a walk with Else and visited her cousin down the lane.  Before we left we had dessert and coffee at the coffee table in the living-room.  Bløt cake is a popular dessert - a basic cake split into two layers with jam and whipped cream filling.  More whipped cream is spread on the top and sides and decorated with fresh fruit.  Else's had strawberries with raspberries around the bottom of the cake. Todd was happy to get a generous piece sent home for him.

We were able to catch the bus to Kristiansund at the end of the driveway and walked back to T and K's from the bus stop.

In Saturday we did some more shopping, this time at the two malls.  One is in downtown K, the other on the east side of town near the airport.  We mostly looked, but did buy some Porsgrund plates that were 70% off as they were seasonal items.

In the evening we went for a long walk with Todd - through a park and a beautiful cemetery which has soil that was brought from Portugal in exchange for klippfisk.

Today we spent doing some things around the house.  We made a rhubarab sour cream pie.  I made the crust and Sandra the filling so we are soon going to sample it.

Sandra helped Todd hang some things on the walls.  The Mother Goose quilt is now on the wall beside the baby's crib.

We also went for a ride on a ferry boat that travels among the four islands that make up Kristiansund.  It was another sunny afternoon so a perfect day to ride at the front of the ferry in the open air.  We saw the Hurtigruten ship come into the harbour, then drove to Vargan, a tower at the high point of the city.

From there we went to a beach where we put our feet in the Atlantic Ocean.  It was a bit too cold for a swim!
We put our feet in the Atlantic.  Yay!

Now we have had a great meal on their rock walled patio and will enjoy our last evening in Norway.  We are so thankful to have had this time together.  We are anticipating the new arrival who should be here by the end of this month.  Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.

This is the end of my blogging until we are back in Canada.  I will be staying at Laurel's on Wednesday night so will put on a brief update then.  The weekend will be a busy one so don't expect much blogging until after that.  Thanks for journeying with us!  It has been special to share it with you.  (And I got out of helping with preparing meals and cleaning up because I had to work on my blog!)
