We left for our mountain trip on Tuesday, July 31. That was also our granddaughter Jamie's fifth birthday. She was with her family at Clear Lake, Manitoba. I will celebrate with her and the rest of our family next weekend at the Johnson farm. August 11 was Howard's birthday so we are planning a mini family reunion with church service at Salem on August 12. Now, back to our trip.
We stopped at the Esso station before we left town and Todd filled up the car with diesel. It took 55.66 liters at 13.82 kroner per liter for a total of 769.22 kroner. Divide that by 5 to get the cost in Canadian dollars - almost $154.00. A few bags of groceries to take along cost about the same. Living in Norway is expensive!

The hytte wasn't what we would think of as a cottage in the mountains. It had all the amenities of a house in the city - two bathrooms, one with a tub the other a shower, beds for sixteen people, TV from a satellite dish. The big difference was the roof as you can see the grass growing there, as it did on most traditional hyttas in the country. Even many of the bus stops along the roads have sod on the roof.
