Now, to figure out what to make next! I have some Peter Rabbit fabric that was meant for a cloth book. I think I'm going to make it into quilt blocks instead. You'll find out next week how it worked out.
When I got in the Escape to go and visit Howard yesterday my vehicle wouldn't start. I soon discovered the problem. I had left the seat warmer plugged in and the battery was dead! I phoned CAA. When I got through on line I was asked "Are you in a safe place?" I told her that I was in the house and my vehicle was in the garage. No problem. A tow truck was sent over and the long cables gave my Escape a boost to start. I let the motor run for a few minutes, then was off to St. Joe's, a little later than usual but I don't think Howard noticed. Ray had been there and took Howard to the cafeteria for coffee and a visit. I stopped at the gift shop and bought a couple items from Verna as Tuesday is the day she volunteers there.
Today was another mild day. Laurel, Greg and Ashley had been to Regina and it was very foggy there. Supper news showed several accidents in that area. They bought Lighthouse (pale yellow) paint for Ashley's room. She was more excited about the red balloon that she got at the bank!
Kirk, Shauna and Lindsay had dental appointments today so they were up to visit Howard today. Lindsay and Jamie got in on "bowling" today and got to help set up the pins. Next week Shauna's uncle Frank is moving to St. Joe's. I told the girls that they'd soon have three people to visit at St. Joe's. "Four" Jamie corrected. "There's Ken too." They were down to his room on their last visit and were fascinated by the fact the Ken is a triplet.
Today a special visitor dropped in to visit Howard, a therapy dog. This was the first visit for her and she did well, no barking. She went right up to Howard and he was happy to pet her. Soon she was back for another one. Pets and "kids" are all good therapy for the residents.
Today George Beverly Shea is 103 years old! In honour of his birthday, I brought along the music for "How Great Thou Art" and Howard sang a couple verses. Bev Shea introduced that song to North America from its beginnings in Sweden. I have a copy of the sheet music with a picture of a much younger Bev Shea on the cover. We tried a couple duets, one of which was "The Wonder of His Love" for which Bev wrote both the words and music. Bev met Billy Graham in 1943 so they have been friends for 69 years.
I had supper with Howard tonight so got home not too long ago. So it's time to get a few things done around the house before it's bedtime. Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. We really wouldn't mind if this winter lasts another six weeks! It's more like spring than the first day of February. Have a good rest of the week.
