I don't usually blog on Friday but I just feel in the mood tonight!
Before I left for Torquay on Thursday afternoon, I made a stop at the Salvation Army store. I had been there earlier in the day and spotted four wooden chairs that seemed very sturdy and were comfortable when I tried one out. I debated for a few hours, then went back and was happy to see that they were still for sale. At $15 a chair, I think it was a good deal. If you noticed, I'm now following a blog called "Better After". It shows pictures of items, usually furniture, before they are redone and then how they look after. I thought it was time for me to try it too. Here's a picture of a chair, as it is now. You may have to wait a while before you see the "after". Two of my nieces, Mandy and Mareena, have done lots of updating on items so maybe they'll have some suggestions for me. Ideas are most welcome! The bottom of the chairs were stamped with "United Chair and Furniture Inc. Calgary". Anybody know anything about that company? Is it still in business? It doesn't say if the chairs was actually made there or just sold by that company.

I came back from the farm with a full Corning Ware casserole of delicious soup with SK grown chickpeas in it. Michael, the fellow who is house sitting for us, loves to cook homemade soup and loves to share it too.

A new month means time to change the calendars. I used to have a whole wall of them starting from the year we were married, 1966. But when there got to be over forty of them, it was time for a change as the wall was full! Now I have a smaller display featuring the grandchildren. Here are the nine that I changed today. Often it's a birthday girl or boy featured on their month.

I enjoyed visiting Howard tonight. He'd had a good phone visit with Todd (aka Luther as a fun thing between them) and remembered that Todd will be arriving on March 23. He also told me that Fred and Kathryn had visited him yesterday, said that she sat on his bed and Fred on the chair beside his desk. He had enjoyed their visit.
Howard lost his glasses during the lockdown at St. Joe's so I brought him his old pair for the time being. He said that Clare doesn't like them as they are "old fashioned" (round rims). He was reading from a large print devotional and did well with several fairly tough words.
I picked up the mail in Ambrose and then over a weeks worth in Torquay. The box was so full that a few items fell behind so I'll get them on Monday when I go out for quilting day. I bought some $3 flat sheets at SA too. They make good backing for quilts, no piecing to do. I also found some little baby jackets that we need for the layettes that we put together for LWR. It's a great place to shop!
Time to watch the CBC film about the Costa Concordia so this is all for now!
