Sunday, Feb.5

I'm doing a short blog this afternoon, will add more later today. I just got back from morning worship at Trinity, Torquay.  We had our second and final vote whether to sever our relationship with the ELCIC.  The vote was unanimous to sever.  Next Sunday we will have our annual meetings.  The Ladies Aid meeting will be at 9:30 and the congregational meeting will follow the 10:30 service.  Then we'll enjoy a potluck lunch in the auditorium.

Sunday Evening
I'm not a football fan but I had planned to at least have the game on as Kirk's favourite team, the Patriots, are in it once again.  He's a very emotional fan so there must be a lot of "yelling" going on at their house tonight.  The last time his team was in the Super Bowl, the Patriots lost.  This time they invited company over so maybe the result will be different too.  Otherwise it will be a blue Monday for Kirk.

Kirk's sister-in-law posted a cute Super Bowl cartoon on Facebook so I'm sharing it here.  Thanks, Loretta!

I visited Howard this afternoon.  It was such a beautiful day that I was hoping to take Howard out for a drive around the city.  But the nurse thought it was too risky for him and for staff who would have to help get him into the vehicle.  He is very unsteady on his feet.  So I put his jacket on him and we went for a "drive" in his wheelchair around St. Joesph's, out one entrance and around to the main one.  We met Judy and her son Brad who were doing the same thing so stopped and had a visit with them at a bench that was right beside the sidewalk.  We'll have to do that whenever there's a suitable day.  There aren't many February's when you can do that!  No snow on the sidewalks and plus 4 so it was easy to navigate with the chair.

I'm planning to go to Torquay in the morning for quilting.  I made buns yesterday so that will be my contribution for the potluck dinner.  On Friday when I was at the farm I took my office chair and dropped it off at the auditorium.  A chair on rollers works great for quilting, just roll along the side of the table as you finish one area and move over to the next.  Someone (I think it was Tressa) thought of that last year and moved the  chair from the secretary's office into the auditorium for quilting day.  Works great!

Well, I'm having company for supper tomorrow so I better get a few things ready tonight as I'll be away most of the day.  The meatballs are in the freezer so that job is done.

Have a good week.  I'm going to make the most of it, my last one in the sixties!

  1. I know it must be an emotional time for your congregation.

Going for spring strolls in Feb! Simply amazing. I go to Los Angeles tomorrow for my follow up. I thought it would be my winter escape, but there is nothing to escape! I will enjoy it none the less : )
