The power was off when we woke up this morning, but came on at nine so now I can update my blog.
We both had a great sleep after more than 24 hours spent on four different planes and in four different airports. Coming down in Toronto, all was brown - the ground, the trees and most of the buildings appeared brown from the air. It was almost a record breaking day in Toronto - plus 17 degrees C, so no snow in sight anywhere! Green grass showed up in London, a refreshing sight. Norway is still white in many places.
It was a little like Christmas last night. After one of Kristy's great meals, we dug in our suitcases for gifts from home - a lovely green table runner for Kristy from her sisters, along with her favorite Easter eggs and a package to open at Easter. Laurel sent cheddar cheese, Oreo cookies and a McLeans Olympic magazine for Todd. He had ordered a white Olympic hockey jersey as a surprise for Kristy and a red one for himself. We had brought magazines and books for Kristy, Aunt Jemima syrup and maple syrup, green peppermints and a batch of flatbread mix, ready to add the buttermilk and bake. We got gifts too - a package of treats from their trip to Iceland. Howard got a T shirt and I got special bubble bath and perfume from the Blue Lagoon, along with a coffee spoon for my collection.
It was cool in the house this morning with the power being off. I snuggled under a wool blanket from Røros Tweed and read a Good Housekeeping magazine - a perfect way to begin a holiday if you ask me! We have no plans for today. Todd and Kristy left for work around seven. They have to detour because of road conditions so had to leave more time to get there. We'll enjoy a relaxing day to ourselves as we adjust to seven hours time change. They haven't changed time in Norway yet. There will be 8 hours difference from SK then.
