Tonight we will be staying in a "hytta" or cabin between here and Oslo. Kristy has packed up bedding and towels to take along. Hotels in Norway are quite expensive so staying in a hytta suits us just fine.
I got to the souvenir store yesterday and found several cute figurines by Candy, a Norwegian company. The fellow who owns the store spoke English and had been to Canada, Vancouver and Quebec, when he was in the navy. I will go back after Easter as he didn't take credit cards and I ran out of kroner!
I also bought half a meter of hardanger fabric so I can work on a project while we are on the Mediterranean. I don't know if Howard and I will take many excursions off the ship. It would be fun to visit Tunis though so we can say we have been to Africa!
It's cloudy again today, +4 at 8 am with a forecast of +11. It should be good driving weather although there's a chance of rain. But Kristy says there's a chance of rain everyday here!
I forgot to mention the Lenten service that we went to on Wednesday evening. There was special music by a choir of 20, two solo numbers and special numbers by the organist. One solo was "Deep River" so that was one we could understand! There were more people in the choir than in the pews, something that happens in Canada too.
Well, it's breakfast time and I should get a load of bedding in the washing machine. I had instructions on operating it from Kristy so hope I get it right. The machine actually heats the water so you set the dial for the temperature that you want. The dryer isn't vented outside but collects the water in a tray that needs emptying, along with the lint tray.
So don't expect many blogs in the next while. Please remember us in your prayers as we head out on this new venture. We are taking our Christian Service Song books along on our trip. Maybe we should sing "God Will Take Care of You" before we leave. We are thankful that "He Leadeth Me". We wish all of you "God Paske" , Norwegian for Happy Easter. Our plans now are to spend Easter Sunday in Lillehammer.
Have a wonderful and safe trip! In Tunis - just a little bit of handy cash in an easily accessable pocket and the rest hidden, deep close to your body. If you need more cash from your hidden areas go to a washroom to get it out in private and then go back : )
