HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUDY!

It's easy to remember Judy's birthday as it is exactly a month before her husband Alan's birthday on October 17.  She was born in Belleville, Ontario to Caroline (Sundet) and Thomas Nelson but has spent most of her life in the Frontier area.  She became part of the Erickson family when she and Alan were married on March 9, 1968 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Frontier.

When Mom and Dad retired to Saskatoon in the fall of 1976,  Alan's moved to the farm from their house in Frontier.  They raised their family of three there.  Tommy was born on July 10, 1968 and tragically died in a motor vehicle accident in 1986, just nine days after turning 18.  Devan, born on April 30, 1971, married Michelle Miller.  They now live in Shaunavon with their family of three - Draven, Reese and Paige.  Tanya, born on Nov.25, 1975, married Jody Howell.  They live in Moose Jaw, also with a family of three - Kelsey, Madison and Macey along with their dog, Maple.  It was great to see Judy and Alan and all the members of their family at our Erickson reunion in July.  The six grandkids, three boys and three girls, love to spend time with Grandma Judy and Grandpa Alan.  Here's a picture of their family along with Judy's mother, Caroline Nelson, who lives in Shaunavon.

Alan and Judy moved back to town (Frontier) and now live in the yard where our Grandma and Grandpa Haaland lived when they retired from their farm south of Climax.  That house had been torn down several years ago.  Alan's had a lovely new double wide mobile home moved in from Lethbridge.  They have done a lot of work in the yard, had many evergreens moved in.  They also added a deck on the south side of the house.  I visited them in May when I was in Frontier for the 17th of May program so will share a picture taken on their cosy deck.

"Judy's Corner" keeps Judy busy, especially at noon when there's always a pot of homemade soup on the menu.  It's not easy to find good help, making it hard to get away for a holiday.  I was hoping that they would get down this way over the summer but that just didn't work out.  I won't give up on them though!  Last winter they came to Weyburn when we were there so that worked out well.  It helps to have grandchildren taking part in skating competitions!

We hope you can take Saturday off, Judy.  Have a very Happy Birthday, wherever you spend it.
