HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLARE AND JODI!

Clare Howard Johnson was born on September 22, 1970 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan.  Two days later and fifty miles up #39 Highway, Jodi Marie Kot was born at Weyburn Union Hospital.  On December 17, 1999 they were married at the Regina Greenhouse with their attendants and a few family members present.

Jodi teaches grade eight at St. Michael's school in Weyburn.  This time of the year she is extra busy as she also coaches girls volleyball and is off to tournaments most weekends.  Somehow there are no tournaments scheduled on her birthday weekend!  She is hoping to spend a relaxing day at home on the new deck that has just been added onto their house.  The weather forecast sounds great for Saturday.  Plus 29 degrees sounds like close to record-breaking for this time of the year.  It's definitely above normal and we love it!

You would usually find Jodi on her combine this time of year but not in 2011.  The only crop to harvest is about 140 acres of flax that should soon be ready but won't require two combines to take it off.

Clare has two jobs.  He is a chartered accountant and works out of the office of John Porter.  He also farms at Torquay where he takes care of Johnson Farms.  This has been a very different year of farming for him with much of the land being too wet to seed this spring.  That has meant more holiday time, even a trip to Moline, Waterloo and Iowa City in September.

Jodi and Clare are avid sport fans. They enjoy curling in the winter and Abbey is following in their footsteps.  Jodi coaches school curling and Abbey is able to go along and have an early start at the game.  Abbey does the same with volleyball, loves to go along to the early morning practices with her mom.
