MY VISITOR

Monday was Family Day in Saskatchewan and what a beautiful day it was after frigid temperatures for most of this winter.  It was above zero and mild enough to make a snowman so that's just what Ashley and Grandma did.  We each made one and had fun giving them a bit of character.

Tuesday is quilting day at Trinity so Ashley came along.  She entertained herself at the "kids table", busy colouring and drawing pictures.  She even did some quilting, being sure to get the needle through all three layers.  Then grandma tied the ends.  We brought the CD player and put in the music from the movie "Frozen".  Then Ashley sang along and danced to some of the songs.  She has many of them memorized so must have listened to that CD a good many times.  She also showed us the set of play characters from the movie.  All have Norsk names - Anna, Else, Prince Hans, Kristoff, Sven (the reindeer)  and Olaf (the snowman).  I haven't seen the movie but maybe I'll have to wait until it comes out on a DVD as it's already been to Estevan and Weyburn.  One of the songs, "Let it Go" has been nominated for an Academy award.

On Wednesday morning we drove over to the Holzer farm so Ashley and Emma could play together.  They were both full of energy so had a good time while Tracy and I were in the kitchen making a batch of flatbread.  We got together before Christmas and made lefse so it was time to move on to flatbread.  She found a new use for her convection oven and the three baking racks, perfect for getting the flatbread crisp.

Ashley wanted to make another snowman when we got home so we tried.  She was just posing beside it for a picture when two of the snowmen went down.  It was kind of like Humpty Dumpty's fall and we didn't try to put them together again.  At least we had a picture of the first two.  We hope it isn't too long before it's snowman weather again.

Thursday morning I head for the Torquay library.  It was a dreary morning, cold and windy with some drifting snow.  There were only two cars at the Community Centre but we had a good morning.  Ashley enjoyed being in playschool again.  She had fun playing with playdough with two other girls.  Instead of me reading to the class today, I brought along a Richard Scarry nursery rhyme book and Ashley recited the ones that she knew.  Her favourite was "One, two buckle my shoe".  Here's the picture that goes with that one.
When we went home after playschool the sun was shining and the wind had gone down.
Ashley was happy to find Grandma's blackboard behind the office door.  Today she drew pictures of sharks so I took a picture to show her mom and dad.

Tomorrow afternoon we will meet Greg, Laurel, Dawson and Eric before Eric's hockey game in Estevan.  I won't stay for the game as I like to get home before dark.  It has been fun to have company this week and it will be quiet when Ashley is gone.  I am so glad that she doesn't get lonesome and wants to spend time at Grandma's.

This little granddaughter is far away but we enjoy the pictures and videos that we get from her.  I even got a birthday package and card that Nora had helped make, along with her little handprint on the card.

I took a picture of the card but am having trouble downloading it to my blog.  I will try again in the morning.  Good night all.
