FOUR YEARS

Yes, it is four years ago today since I started this blog.  I never could keep a diary up to date so I've done well to keep this up for four years!  I just looked back at the February posts from 2010.  The Olympics were just underway in Vancouver so the schedule is much the same this year.  I had just turned 68 so that means I'm now 72.  My mother lived just over two months past her 65th birthday so I have now exceeded that by almost seven years.  I am quite happy to be getting older!  I am blessed to be in good health, no aches or pains.

My two brothers and sister all called to wish me Happy Birthday as did many friends and family members.  That's my favourite part of a birthday - getting phone calls, emails, ecards, text messages. Facebook messages, visits via Facetime and better yet, visits face to face!  Snail mail greetings are rare now so it was great to find a card and hand written letter in the mailbox at Ambrose!  Thanks to all of you for making my day so special.

I had tried to call my sister-in-law Jan a week ago on her 70th birthday but they were not home when I called.  Mervin called me yesterday and said that their two girls, Joan and Heather,  had taken their mother and the three granddaughters to Hawaii for Jan's birthday!  I'm sure they are having a wonderful week away from this COLD Saskatchewan weather.  And home alone Merv has been enjoying all the curling coverage on TV!

I got a picture of little Nora waving her Canadian flag to start off the Olympics so here she is, little Miss Canada.

Tomorrow it will be Ashley's turn to share a Show and Tell item at Kindergarten.  She has chosen Itty Bitty with her new dress to match Ashley's. Grandma Gaylene loves to shop for her only granddaughter when she is wintering in California!  Ashley loves to wear dresses.

When I told about Shauna's mother's funeral in an earlier post, I didn't have a copy of Lindsay's tribute to "Grandma Weezy" so I will add that here:

Hugs for Grandma Weezy – By Lindsay Johnson

One thing I remember about my Grandma is giving her my hug. Doesn’t matter where we were or what we were doing, I had to give her my hug every day. And that hug from her always made my day. Every time I saw her she always reminded me to give her my hug. Because that hug means that I love her and I know that she loves me right back!

And Lindsay and Jamie are very good at passing those hugs on.  Aunt Viola Halvorson was so happy when the girls came to visit her at St. Joseph's as they always had smiles and hugs for her.  I'm planning to go out to Lampman on Thursday so I'll be getting some of those special hugs too.

On the way home from Milestone on Monday, I stopped at Clare's office to have birthday cake and ice cream.  Abbey made a special heart shaped cake as she knows that I have a weakness for hearts. I guess that's because I was born just a few days before Valentines Day.  Here I am about to enjoy a piece of Abbey's cake.

Well, this blog post has a variety of topics, kind of a "catch up" post.  There might not be another one until Sunday so I'll give you a break for the rest of the week.  Have a Happy Valentines Day!
