OCTOBER 28

My favourite pumpkin picture!
It was time to get off the phone and work on my blog before Sunday becomes Monday!  Tonight I connected on Facetime with a second cousin once removed (at least that's how she explained it!) who lives in Beaumont, Texas.  Lynn and I are about the same age. My great grandmother and her grandfather were sister and brother from the Urangseter farm in Norway.  She visited that area in 1988 so is going to send pictures of the farm and this history of it in the family.  We got in touch with each other through Ancestry.com, had emailed a few times and tonight we talked for the first time, for about 45 minutes!  She said that her dad never knew that he had cousins in America. He was the only one of his family of 11 who left Norway.

Tomorrow morning I'm planning to take the bus from Estevan to Regina to visit my good friend from high school days, Marilyn (Anderson) Scheske.  We have kept in touch all these years but haven't gotten together often enough.  We both turned 70 last February so we'll celebrate that milestone even if it's been eight months ago.  We're still 70!  I suggested that we'll have to celebrate our 71st birthdays on February 19th in 2013 as The Canadian Tenors are in Regina that night.  Their Canadian tour was just announced so there should be lots of tickets available now.

Our family is having quite a time to find a weekend when we can be together for a Christmas gathering when Todd, Kristy and Nora come home!  We had settled on the Dec. 15 and 16th weekend, but now Dawson and Carter both have home hockey tournaments.  I'm planning to go to Rosebud, AB on the Dec. 8th weekend, Clare's are planning to leave for Phoenix on Dec. 21 so we have a problem.  We might have to meet at a hockey game and have good old "rink burgers"!

It looks like this is going to be another short post as it's soon bedtime and I seem to be lacking inspiration tonight.  I'll have to make up for it on Wednesday, which is Hallowe'en. Or maybe I'll play a trick and not post a thing until next Sunday.  You'll just have to wait and see!  Good-night.
