HALLOWEEN

Guess who?

These two girls share the same birthday, September 7, but eleven years apart.

                      Nora's first Hallowe'en

I decided not to play a trick on you readers so here I am with my Wednesday blog after a wonderful time in Regina visiting with my pal from high school days in Frontier.  We have seen each other off and on over the years but it was time for a heart to heart visit and that's what we had.  It was a very relaxing time with visiting interspersed with two special events at Our Saviours on Monday evening and Wednesday morning as well as a Monday afternoon ladies group at her home.  On Tuesday we treated ourselves to a buffet  at the Hotel SK and enjoyed a leisurely noon lunch, making sure to leave room to try some of their fancy desserts.  Creme brulee was a favourite!

I got to meet Marilyn and Ray's fourteen year old grandson, Jacob, who had done his personal best at last weekend's swim meet in Saskatoon.  When he checked the ratings on swimming.ca we were  thrilled to see that he ranked first in Canada in several of the races, second in a couple others.  Well done, Jacob.

Marilyn and I even spent some time reading!  I skimmed through an interesting book that she had on her coffee table.  It was entitled "You Can Buy Happiness(and it doesn't cost much)"by Tammy Strobel - How one woman radically simplified her life and how you can too.  It has some interesting ideas, like limiting your wardrobe to 33 items that you will wear for the next three months.  I'm thinking of trying that one in an effort to declutter my closet.  I wonder how many items that I have in there now!!

We also spent time watching the devastating damage from Hurricane Sandy in the eastern US and parts of Canada.  Those poor people having to deal with such a heartbreaking event.  After seeing those pictures I am so blessed to have a home out here on the prairie where blizzards are likely our biggest weather threat.  They talked of people not having enough food on hand in their home to last 72 hours.  I think I'd be okay for 72 days!

All eight grandchildren are likely out in costumes of some sort.  Even little Nora, not quite two months, has a costume!  She's a little zebra, thanks to her auntie Jolene and uncle Gib.  You have already seen her at the top of this page.  These pictures were just emailed from Milestone.  Perhaps there will be ones from Lampman and Weyburn to add tomorrow.

Tomorrow is All Saints Day.  At 7:00 p.m. will be a service of remembrance at St. Joseph's Hospital chapel for those who passed away during the first six months of this year.  Family members and friends are welcome to attend. Laurel and Ashley plan to come for it as do some of Kirk's family.  Clare has a business meeting in Saskatoon so won't make it.  Kirk suggested that we meet for supper, so Jenny K's might be our meeting place at 5:30.

No visitors at the farm tonight.  A year ago I had moved to Estevan in time for Hallowe'en.  It's hard to believe that it's November tomorrow!  Time to think about Christmas letters, Christmas Child boxes, buying and wrapping presents, baking and cleaning.  I'll get at my closet first thing in the morning and see how many items of clothing I can get along without.  Wish me luck!
