Water over the roads, AGAIN!

Water over the road at the Mossing coulee
My plans for today were to head to Estevan with our red 1999 Ford pickup and trade it in for a 2008 green Ford Escape, with 4WD.  I definitely want a dependable vehicle for next winter but a 4WD might still be needed now to navigate muddy country roads.  We had just under 2 inches of rain overnight and today.  Not far west of us there were reports of 3 and 4 inches and that water flows east.  The crossing at the Mossing farm is under water for the fourth time this spring, the road north of the farm is also under water south of Salem church.  To top it off, Long Creek bridge south of Torquay is closed again with deeper water than it was earlier this spring.  This time there's water over the road both north and south of the bridge.  Jeff ventured west and went to Estevan via Oungre.  He took some pictures of the water at the Mossing farm and also at the bridge.

So, my plans for the day were changed, as were the plans of others in this area.  Two families got across the bridge via tractor, with the water as deep as the front wheels.  Jeff checked the Mossing coulee this evening and the water was down quite a bit.  If there's no more rain tonight, that road might be passable in the morning.  If not, he'll go to work at Torquay port via Oungre and down through North Dakota.  He'll be a bit late for work if he has to do that as both ports open at nine am.  Good thing there are two officers on duty now.  I don't suppose there'll be much border traffic with the bridge closed to Torquay!  If Jeff can get to work going east of here, then I'll have an option of going that way too,  through Ambrose, Crosby and up through the Noonan port to get to Estevan.  Where there's a will there's a way!  Will I get to drive that Escape tomorrow or not? Will Howard get home for Father's Day?  Check tomorrow's blog to find out.  Good-night all.
Water, water everywhere!
