THIS AMAZING ORCHID!
I just had to take a picture of my orchid in full bloom this morning. Kristy and Todd gave us this plant for the 100th anniversary of the Johnson farm. That was in July of 2007 so this orchid has soon been here for four years and has blossomed several times. This time it has nine blossoms, the most ever. When it bloomed the first time I thought that the blossoms would last a few days at most, but they stayed as nice as ever for over a month! I'll see how long these last. It's an amazing plant as all I do is give it water, hard water from our well at that. I always have the water at room temperature but that's the only thing that I do for it. Here it is in all its splendour.
It was rather a disturbing night with a thunderstorm along with some hailstones and 7/10 of an inch of rain, giving us an inch this week with more to come, according to the forecast.
I did get a little bit of garden in yesterday - carrots, onions, beets, radish, lettuce and spinach. The seeds got a good soaking so should be off to a good start once the sun shines again. They didn't get drowned out either!
Tomorrow I'm off to Estevan. It's Aunt Viola's 94th birthday and she is planning a party. The Torquay Grannies are singing and Howard and I will do a duet too. Viola and Lilah are doing a skit that Viola wrote about 25 years ago. It promises to be a fun afternoon. I'll take pictures and put them on my blog tomorrow.
