STROKE CLINIC

Clare took this beauty on Sat. after Abbey's VB tournament in Esterhazy!

I took the bus from Estevan to Milestone (a $15 trip anywhere STC travels in SK this month!) on Friday after attending the memorial service for Kay Tenold, formerly of Torquay.  It was great to visit with many family members and friends at the luncheon that followed.  I remember Kay as a faithful organist at Trinity, Torquay and have some of her music that she gave me when she retired from her years of service at the organ.  I know she accompanied Howard for many of his solos and he always had a soft spot in his heart for her. Blessed be her memory.

I am not able to drive since having two episodes of passing out here at the farm.  Clare was here for both of them so made two trips to Weyburn Hospital.  I was kept in the first time for two nights but sent home the second time with orders not to drive and to see my own doctor the next office day.  I was referred to the Stroke Clinic and Laurel took me there on Monday morning.  I saw a nurse and a neurologist.  The Dr. ruled out a stroke, but has me scheduled for several tests on my heart.  I was hooked up to a Holter heart monitor yesterday for 24 hours and returned to the General Hospital to have that removed this morning.  Driving is off limits until three more tests are done and I see the doctor again in January.  Laurel drove me to Weyburn and I came back to the farm with Clare.

We got back in time to meet with a Husky Oil fellow to sign papers for the pipeline that will go across our home quarter.  Plans are to do the work next month, weather permitting.

I cleaned our a few of my tomato plants and went for a walk on another beautiful fall day.  I am taking it easy and trying to break jobs into small parts. I am well stocked up on groceries so am good for this week.  Ron and Gail will pick me up for church next Sunday.  There's potluck at the Fifty and Over Club at noon  that day so it will be good to take that in too.  I have been volunteering at the Torquay Library every Thursday morning during play school but that will have to be put on hold until I can drive again.

I will be back to Regina on Oct.30 for my eight week checkup after surgery in August.  I am looking forward to vacuuming my house and lifting more than ten pounds again! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.  I was so pleased to get into this clinic so quickly and trust that they will find a cause for these episodes and be able to do something to prevent more.  I am feeling much better now, have a good appetite again and will make the most of this stay at home time.
