HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG!

Greg would have liked to have spent his birthday out on his John Deere busy seeding but fields are still on the wet side around Milestone.  He was thankful not to get any of the snow that fell down this way.  He took Eric and Dawson to Eric's hockey game in Regina on Sunday afternoon.  It wasn't a close game as Eric's team won 16 - 1 in this three on three Atom league.  Greg barbecued steak when they got home so we had a great birthday supper complete with two pies that Laurel made - one strawberry and the other apple.  Yum!  Here are some picture of Greg's new "toy"- a Polaris Ranger.  It was a bit muddy out so I didn't get a ride in it.  Dawson and Eric are quite pleased with this purchase!!

I could have used the same title for this post as for the last one - A White World, Again.  But I missed seeing it this time as I left for Milestone right after lunch on Sunday.  I got a message on my phone about snowfall warnings for ND and they were right.  When I phoned Vi that evening she said they had gotten about six inches at their farm near the US border south of Outram.

Clare had headed back to Weyburn when it started snowing but had seeded close to 150 acres here at home.  So that gave them a chance to "get the bugs out" and have everything ready for the busy spring seeding sessions.  There's good drainage on the land here at home so it's a good place to start.

On Tuesday afternoon I went with Vi to Weyburn for the funeral for Vickie's mother, Josephine Bangsund.  Josie was 92 and until the last few months  gave each of her grandchildren a can of homemade cookies for each birthday. When she wasn't able to bake anymore, Vickie's brother in Alberta got grandma's recipe and made sugar cookies for the grandchildren as they felt so bad that there wouldn't be any more cookies from Grandma Bangsund.

I thought that baking cookies was such a good idea that I'm going to do that for my family, the big "kids" as well as the grandkids.  Greg got the first batch today, a can of oatmeal cookies with date filling.  Laurel is going to bag them in two's and keep them in the freezer, ready to add to his lunch pail.  I won't have to get the next batch ready until July as Jamie's birthday is the next one on the 31st.  September will keep me busy with  five birthdays that month!  I wonder if I'll be doing that for the next twenty years as Grandma Bangsund did!

This post is short but just wanted to update you a bit and let you know I'm keeping busy here at the farm.  I got the lawn raked and Abbey helped me bag the leaves on Saturday.  The tulips are up a few inches as is the rhubarb so spring is truly here!  I have pussy willows on the dining room table too.  Welcome Spring!
