A WHITE WORLD, AGAIN!

Sunday was a cloudy, dreary day with rain showers that turned to snow in the evening and overnight.  I left my Escape outside as it was dripping with mud when I got home from town.  Now it's coated with snow so it will stay outside until the snow melts off.  The forecast is for more snow tonight.

"Raise the Roof" was the name given to Trinity's event on Saturday evening.  The flat roof over the entry/bathrooms/offices/kitchen has been leaking in places after a rain or a snow melt.  Putting on a peaked roof was too costly so the option is to have a special rubberized coating installed on the roof.  Hence the need for a fundraiser.  The steak supper, musical entertainment and silent auction was a huge success.   180 people came to support us from the east, west, north and south to the border.  In spite of feeding that many people, there were enough leftovers for our congregation and visitors to have a meal following our worship service this morning.  Fund raising was not the sole purpose of the evening.   The opportunity to fellowship with members of our own and neighbouring communities and churches was also a priority.  Their support is much appreciated and was evident in the great turnout and willingness to support us by bidding on auction items.  We were amazed at some of the items that were donated by individuals and businesses.  Each item was much appreciated.  Here are pictures of some of them:

I bid on quite a few items but just came home with three and one of those, the bag from Nelson Motors, was for Laurel to give Greg for his birthday next week.  (I don't think he reads my blog so it should be a surprise.)

Musical groups taking part were The Daae Family, The Praise Band from Faith Lutheran in Estevan, The Hansens along with Paula and Don's five children, and our Torquay Grannies.  The Daae's supplied the sound system so the Grannies even used mikes this time!  We are scheduled to sing at the monthly birthday party on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Special Care Home in Estevan.  I'm hoping the snow is gone by then!

Nora had a new experience on Sunday, her first "train" ride.  A little carnival was on in Kristiansund and Todd thought the parents enjoyed it even more than the children.  Here are a couple pictures of Nora and a little friend.

Abbey played in 13 and under volleyball provincials in Saskatoon this past weekend.  I just got a picture from Jodi so will post it here.  Abbey is number four.

  1. Here in Ohio we have rain, but it is still cool. Winter does not want to leave us this year. I enjoy reading your blog and seeing your pictures. Nora has a sweet little face; it looks like she loved her train ride!
