TWO YEARS

Yesterday, the 22nd of May, marked two years since the day of Howard's funeral.  When I drove by Salem cemetery yesterday morning on my way to Torquay, I was thinking that the grass was soon long enough to cut.  When I stopped there on my way home, the grass was all trimmed.  Thanks for your faithful service, Keith.

Seeding continues with temperatures in the twenties and up to thirty today. The supper news said records were broken in 21 Saskatchewan sites today.  Clare got stuck once yesterday and they had some troubles in the morning but were back at it in the afternoon.  Another day of seeding wheat and they will be switching to soybeans.

I've been rototilling in the yard but the weeds have gotten ahead of me.  It's a never ending job.  I haven't put any garden in yet so that will be my project for next week.  I'm on for cooking for the crew on Saturday and Monday.  They should be a few miles west of here so not far to bring out suppers.

I stopped to pick up a few bedding plants from the Carievale greenhouse when I was in Estevan.  Last year I planted red wave petunias and moss roses on Howard's grave.  They did very well without a lot of watering so that's what I'm going to plant this year too.  It looks like my Autumn Joy sedums didn't make it through the long, cold winter and I'm not sure the asparagus plants did either.  I hate to lose them after having both for many years.  The rhubarb must be a lot tougher as it's soon tall enough to pick.

Sandra had a couple pictures from the 17th of May on Facebook so I'll add them here for those of you who aren't on it.

I chose to wear my hummingbird top with Psalm 121 as a tribute to Howard on the second anniversary of his passing.  The red, white and blue rosette is commonly worn in Norway on Syttende Mai so I wore a bit of Norsk. Sandra mentioned Howard that day in closing, as he always enjoyed coffee with goodies and good friends.  He got to know many people in Frontier area, probably knew more than I did as he was very outgoing and such a people person.  He was so observant and remembered much better than I do.  I often wish he was around to answer questions that I have!

Sandra will get to wear her Norsk outfit again this Saturday at a bridal shower.  The bride is from Norway and the groom is from the Claydon area.  Sandra is wondering, "Should I share Norwegian jokes that day?"

I have added a movie of Nora on May 17th but I'm not sure if it will play.  If not, you might be able to see some of it anyway.  It seems to want to play all the time, instead of when you click the arrow. There's no sound with it either.  I'll have to find out how to improve loading movies!  Nora loves to wave flags!  ( I just deleted this video as it just keeps playing and playing with no sound.  Help!)

Dawson took part in a divisional track and field meet in Regina yesterday.  He was pleased to get first in discus so has a red ribbon for his efforts.  He was disappointed in their relay effort as one of the team members left before that event.  Another student filled in but the result wasn't worthy of a ribbon.

The last pan of buns is ready to take out of the oven so I better close for now and clean up my kitchen.  I was doing outside work today so now the inside needs attention!
