THANKSGIVING DAY

GOOD NEWS UPDATE on Tuesday:  Nora does not need surgery on her leg!  We talked to Kristy this morning and that was the decision the specialists made after looking at x-rays with cast on and after the cast was removed.  The cast was put right back on and Nora will be back at Barnehage on Wednesday.  Another  blessing for which to give thanks.

I have enjoyed having Ashley with me for the weekend.  I drove to Milestone on Friday morning and went with Laurel to Regina for my 11:00 appointment with Frank Enns, our financial advisor from Saskatoon.  In our conversation, Laurel and Frank found out that they have mutual friends who live near Gray, a small world.  It was Lilah Daae who told me about Frank and encouraged us to make use of his expertise in investing.  It is good to have that extra income each month besides Canada and Old Age pension.

We had lunch at the Travelodge and Laurel's friend from high school days at LCBI, Outlook met us there too.  Diedre is originally from Frontier but she and her husband and family now live in Alaska.

The one place that I wanted to go while in Regina was to Alford Floors.  Laurel had been there with Gaylene and was impressed with the sofas and recliners made by IMG, Norway.  I was in a buying mood so came home with a black recliner that rocks and swivels as well as reclines with the touch of a button.  That's where I'll spend my winter evenings!  It's still in the box so I can't show you a picture of me relaxing in it.  Next post!

Ashley came home with me on Saturday afternoon.  There was over an inch of rain here on Friday so no harvesting soybeans any time soon.  We actually came home via Estevan as we wanted to see Abbey playing in a volleyball tournament at Estevan Comp.  The St. Michael Tigers won two and lost two so did well as a new team and with several players absent on a long weekend.

On Sunday we went to Trinity.  There was no shortage of students for Sunday School this morning - fourteen in fact!  Most of them were grandchildren visiting for the weekend plus three members of Trinity.  It's a good thing Verna had helpers for the session!  They had fun playing together after snacks.

We had our Thanksgiving meal on Sunday when Jeff came home from work.  There are lots of leftovers from our turkey dinner so we can enjoy another Thanksgiving meal today, with extras to put in the freezer.

Clare, Jodi and Abbey came out this afternoon so plans changed for Ashley so she could spend some time with Abbey instead of going back to Milestone this afternoon with Debbie (Cranna) Ashworth who was heading home to Regina.

Clare unloaded the box from Alford's and got my new chair set up in the living-room.  Now I need a flat screen TV on the east wall and I'll be all set!

I took a sample of flooring home last week from Carpet One in Weyburn.  I'm going to return it tomorrow and meet Laurel there with Ashley.  It's time to make some decisions about flooring so I'll start there and maybe the floors will have a new look for Christmas.

Nora had a checkup on Friday concerning her broken leg.  She saw a specialist today and a decision will be made tomorrow as the break has shifted a bit and surgery may be needed to correct it.  You are in our thoughts and prayers, Nora, and your mom and dad.

With the busy days lately I can't wish you a Happy Thanksgiving as the weekend is soon over.  My prayer is that we have  Happy Thanksliving every day and not limit our thanks to one day a year.  It is good to pause and reflect, count our many blessings and remember that we are "blessed to be a blessing".  Be a blessing to those you come in contact with this week.  See you on Thursday.  Now I'm heading for that recliner!
