FRIDAY THE 13TH

John Deere, resting among the flowers on Friday, Sept 13
I don't usually do a Friday post but since I sneaked in an extra one on Monday, that's just how it is this week.  I'm not superstitious so this is just another Friday to me.  I'm reminded of Todd who often chose  the #13 on his team.  Notice all the 13's on this tee shirt quilt that I made a few years ago. (It looks like it was "under construction" in this picture!)
Lots of 13's on Todd's tee shirts!
So what is happening this Friday on the Johnson farm?  Well, it's going to be a great harvest day with temperatures close to plus 30ยบ C and a nice breeze.  The guys are combining "over east", not quite to the Johnson land but a bit west of there right along the US border.  I'll be driving over there to deliver supper later on today.  The Escape works well for that.  The hatchback gives some shade when it's open and supper can be served from the back door so to speak.  I'll take a couple lawns chairs along and my denim picnic blanket and we'll enjoy another supper in the field.  The days are getting shorter so I'll aim for a five o'clock supper.

I'm getting low on a few groceries so I might take a drive to Crosby tomorrow.  Veronica (Bergum) Hattel's daughter Mary has a table at the farmer's market on Saturdays so I'd like to take that in.  I should be at the customs when it opens at eight our time so I get there shortly after the market opens.  I have some Eric Carle books to get off to Nora so I can mail them in Crosby too.

This was "back to work week" for Kristy and Todd.  She started last week but this was his first week back after his parenting leave of twelve weeks.  Kristy gets to leave work early as she is still nursing Nora.  It's great that Kristy has her drivers license now.  She drops Todd off, then takes Nora to Barnehage before going to her workplace.  She leaves work early in the afternoon, picks Nora up and Todd catches a ride home with a fellow worker at Swire.  There are very few two car families in Norway!

Todd says that Nora doesn't cry when Kristy leaves her in the morning, but she does cry when Kristy comes to take her home!  That says that Nora is enjoying her days at Barnehage with many new little friends to play with.  There are 18 children ages one and two years with six staff to care for them and do activities with them.  No wonder she hates to leave!  But she's very happy at home too, once the break is made!

I'm adding a picture of Nora on her birthday with two young Norsk friends.  She fits right in with these little blond Norwegians, don't you think?
Nora with Gustav and Ole Edin
I talked to Todd on the phone this morning to get the names of these two boys as I thought they would have good Norsk names.  Todd said they really liked the slushburgers at Nora's party.  Yesterday their mother called Kristy to get the recipe for Gustav's birthday party.  Now she says there are 18 Norwegian boys who also like "hamburger slush" as they call it.  I told Todd that they will have to come up with a good Norsk name for those burgers.  They have numerous names here,  known also as Sloppy Joes or even Victory Burgers!  Here's a picture of Nora eating her slushburger or whatever you want to call it!  I thought I had a video of it but couldn't find it.

Ole Edin goes by both his names.  When he talks about Nora he always calls her Nora Josephine and corrects his family if they just call her Nora. I'll add the picture of Nora that was in the Kristiansund newspaper for her first birthday.

By the way, both lost iPhones have been found!  Greg's was in the field and was found when they were walking and searching in that area.  Clare bought a new one, then found his in the tractor yesterday when he got out a manual to study up on something.  There it was inside the book!  Abbey is happy as she's hoping to claim it!
