LAST WEEK OF HOLIDAYS

Enjoying a walk through the tall grass

It's back to school next week for seven of the grandchildren, eight if you add Nora who is now going to Barnehage! I have four of them here today but the girls are going to Weyburn later.  Kirk and Shauna left this afternoon for Minot.  Tomorrow morning they fly to New York and from there to Boston on Thursday before returning home a week from today.  Neither one has been to NY or Boston so it will be new venture.  The highlight for Kirk will be attending three baseball games of his favourite team, the Boston Red Sox.  Even better, Shauna's brother and nephew will be there too, not a planned meeting , just ardent Red Sox fans booking trips at the same time!

It will be quiet here tonight though as Lindsay and Jamie are going back to Weyburn for two nights with Abbey.  Jodi is back to school on Tuesday and Abbey has a three day volleyball camp starting that day too.   Lindsay and Jamie will come back to the farm with Clare on Tuesday and will be here until I take them to Lampman on Friday when Grandma Louise will take over.

Ashley had a great time at VBS and made several new friends and got in touch with ones from last year.  On an earlier visit she had made a new friend at McDonalds in Estevan and she got together with Ayden again at VBS.  On Wednesday after VBS her new friend, Emma, came home with us.  They had a busy afternoon and got along very well.  They helped me make cookies for Thursday's snack.

I met Laurel in Weyburn on Friday after the VBS windup at noon with barbecued hotdogs and ice cream cones.  They joined Abbey and Jodi at the pool in Weyburn and both Ashley and I got haircuts at Headwaves.

When I came home from town after service today, the farm was without power!  Sask Power was called but when Kirk came he solved the problem at the switch box and the Sask Power call was cancelled.  We quickly got the three homemade pizzas in the oven.

Kirk and Shauna left for Minot around two, Jodi and the girls left for Weyburn a bit later.  Clare and Carter both went to bed early and I think I'll be there shortly.

Todd's are enjoying a visit from Marilyn and Murray, Kristi's aunt and uncle from Lethbridge.  Today they went to scenic Geiranger and had outstanding weather for their day trip.

Dawson came home today from his week at Dallas Valley Ranch Camp.  He has a sore throat and a cold but had "one amazing week".  He took part in canoeing, riflery, mountain boarding and wall climbing - no horseback riding for him this year.

Tomorrow afternoon the Torquay Grannies are singing at St. Joseph's Special Care Home in Estevan.  We always enjoy the time we spend with these seniors.  I'll bring my accordion  and we'll share some piano/accordion music to give our voices a rest.  Have a great last week of August!

  1. Yes a fun week for Ashley, sort of like a week at Camp Grandma's for her as well. Tending a few camp wounds on Dawson with the Watkins Petro Carbo salve and vapor rub recently bought from good ol Crosby Hardware store. Thanks Shauna for recommending these great products!
