BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Birthday bags for the birthday girl

Cute cosy cousins!
I have had a busy week!  On Tuesday I was busy canning peaches from Crosby.  I did 28 quarts that day and have a couple cases left to do.  Some of those will go into peach pies to freeze and bake later.
On Wednesday I met Laurel, Eric and Ashley at A & W in Estevan for lunch.  Then I joined Susie and Wilma at Midtown Manor and we entertained the residents with accordion and piano music.  Ashley put on her outfit from the Milestone Dance recital and danced along with our music.  She coloured with Haley, Susie's granddaughter, when she needed a rest.  Then we were treated to coffee and dainties before heading off for the monthly birthday party at St. Joseph's Special Care Home.  Ashley did some dancing there too.  Ken had been shopping at their carnival at the home last week and sent purchases home with us for Carter, Lindsay and Jamie.  They enjoy visiting Ken when they go to Estevan.  Jamie was pleased to get more stuffed animals for her collection, Lindsay a bottle of shower gel and Carter a little model car.

From St. Joseph's Ashley and I went on to Kirk's and enjoyed a birthday supper along with Grandma Louise and Grandpa Ralph.  Jamie was excited to get several new outfits so she'll be all set for grade one next month.  Here are more pictures.

Ashley came home with me today.  We stopped in Estevan for groceries, then in Torquay for a meeting at Trinity to pick out hymns for the next three months.  We were lazy this afternoon - spent some time outside and tried out a few apples.  Ashley proclaimed them as delicious so that will be the next task - picking apples and making sauce and pies.  We also watched a couple movies together.  "Beauty and the Beast" is always a favourite.

Clare and John stopped by on their crop tour.  They encountered two moose near the border south of the farm.  The moose were busy eating canola and showed no fear of truck or camera.

Well, if I'm going to get an early start on those peaches tomorrow, I better get off to bed.  Have a good and safe long weekend.
