| "I'm so tired, Mom. I think I need a nap." |
Just a quick blog from the Diekrager farm. I left the Johnson farm this morning in time to make my 8:40 mammogram appointment in Estevan. Then I stopped at St. Joseph's to visit Aunt Viola and show her the pictures of little Nora Josephine Johnson. She likes the name too. There is a lady there named Josephine who is originally from Torquay but I didn't get to see her. I'm sure she will like the name too!
Then I drove against a strong wind to Weyburn, made an appointment for my yearly medical, had lunch with Clare at the house, picked up some buttermilk to make flatbread and continued on to Milestone.
Laurel and I had made plans last weekend to go to Moose Jaw on Thursday to visit my brother's daughter Tanya and her folks. Alan and Judy are camping there for five weeks while Judy undergoes radiation treatments in Regina after surgery for breast cancer. Before I got to Laurel's today, she got word from Tanya that Judy's sister, Barb, died suddenly this morning. Barb and her husband Warren run a grocery store in Shaunavon. He had gone to work early and Barb didn't show up for work. What a shock for her family and friends . She was 58, had also battled breast cancer but was in remission the last while. The family had all been together for a niece's wedding this summer so what precious memories they will have from that special time. It's a reminder of the uncertainty of life. We never know when we will see someone for the last time.
We will be going to Moose Jaw tomorrow but the circumstances have certainly changed. I'm glad that we can be with Alan and Judy during this time. It must be so hard for Judy to be away from home now but the Dr. doesn't want her to miss more than one treatment. They will head back to Frontier on Friday morning as she has an early treatment that day.
Todd and Kristy sent more pictures today so I will add those now. Little Nora has to wear a type of brace on her left leg as she has hip displasia. It's not uncommon, especially among babies who are breach. It's good that the doctors checked it out right away so treatment can be started now when she isn't using her legs to crawl or walk. Nora is nursing well and gaining weight so may be going home tomorrow, an exciting day for the new Johnson family. I'll update my blog when that happens.
