HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DREW!

If you have already read this blog, check it out again as I have added Mandy's version of Drew's arrival.

Today the third of those boys born in 2003 turns eight.  They were together at Lacombe in February and Mandy took a picture of the three "triplet cousins" so here they are.

Three eight year olds, born within 17 days
Rylan: Feb.26, Eric: Mar. 8, Drew: Mar 15
Mareena's, Laurel's, Mandy's

Drew loves building Lego.

Drew's arrival has an interesting story.  Grandma Sandra was still in Lacombe as she had come up when Rylan was born the end of February.  Mandy and Rick hadn't purchased the required car seat yet and needed to go shopping for that.  Sandra had phoned over to the Peakman's that morning but there was no answer.  She just thought, "They've gone shopping for a car seat".  Early in the afternoon, Mareena answered the phone and Mandy asked her "Would you like to come and see your new nephew?"  Drew Alexander had arrived at Red Deer hospital!  Grandma and Auntie Mareena were completely surprised by his arrival that day.  Rick and Mandy had gone shopping for a car seat - on the way to the hospital when she was in labour!  Less than twenty-four hours after Drew's arrival, Mandy and baby were home.

I got a message from Mandy with her version of the day Drew arrived so with her permission I am adding it here.

It sure doesn't seem like 8 years ago that we were shopping up a storm in preparation for his sooner than expected arrival. He was 3 weeks early so didn't quite follow my procrastinating nature. We had intended on going to Edmonton for the day to get some baby shopping done, he had other plans. My water broke at about 4:45 am and my first reaction was...uh oh, no Edmonton shopping trip today! We were lucky enough to be so close to Red Deer that we just went there to get what we needed. Shopping in labor now that is a way to make decisions. I kept the reciepts from our purchases and they are in his scrapbook...stroller, carseat, diapers, baby tub, jammies, diaper bag, and a few odds and ends...we got lots accomplished that morning! We returned back to Lacombe around noon, had some lunch and watched TSN Legends of Hockey for a while. I had a bath, packed our bags, and decided it was maybe time to head back to Red Deer. Drew was born in less than an hour after we got to the hospital at 4:01pm...now that was cutting it close I guess. Looking back it's a great story, thanks for sharing and reminding me about it again this morning. I am sure enjoying your blog and all the birthday updates.

Happy Birthday, Drew.  We look forward to seeing you at the Erickson reunion in July.  For more pictures of Drew, check out Mandy Sanford Peakman on Facebook. Drew plays hockey, baseball and loves to go fishing and camping with his younger brother, Ty. He is also lucky to have his cousin Rylan living right across the street.

Thanks for all the new pictures that I "borrowed" from you, Mandy.
