My Blog List

I felt that I should say a bit about the blogs that I am following.  They are listed on the right side of my blog.  You can access them by clicking on the current title or on the blog title to see their list of postings.

The first blog I followed was KatieKatieBadDog.  It is written by Laurel's friend, Holly (Anderson) Ekstrom, from high school days at LCBI, Outlook.  It was this blog that inspired me to try blogging too.  I admired her honesty in "telling it like it is".  I have always been more prone to keep things to myself so I thought blogging might be a way of opening up a bit and sharing my thoughts and feelings.  I'm working on it!  Holly is recovering from a very severe case of chicken pox.  Her pictures will encourage everyone to get immunized.  It's no picnic getting "childhood diseases" when you are in your forties!

I came across the blog "Enjoying the Small Things" as I was searching through "next blogs" one day.  I loved the pictures of her children and again, her honest way of writing and her love of the small things, especially children.  She shared the birth of her second daughter with down syndrome, totally unexpected and life changing for her and their family.  Now precious little Nelle is a year old.

"We Are Blessed" is written by Candra (Wig) Sexton, a granddaughter of Howard's cousin, Alvin and Herborg Vinge.  After having three children of their own, Candra and Riley were led to adopt a little boy from South Africa.  She shares their journey as a family seeking to follow Christ's leading in their lives.

"Kolbjorn's Journey" deals with an eight year old boy's battle with brain cancer and how their family is dealing with the challenges.  The Friggstad family lived just three miles west of  my home farm at Frontier.  Kol's mother Kristen was in Clare's class at LCBI.  Clare and Kirk got to know Kirk Friggstad too so lots of family connnections.

"Ledene Cuisine" (named by Todd) is by Kristy and her family.  They are a busy family so haven't done much blogging yet but I'm looking forward to hearing more from these great cooks in the future.  The family is looking forward to another Ledene wedding on April 30.  Todd and Kristy will be home for Danielle and Danny's wedding in Brooks.

"Journeying" is a new blog by another LCBI classmate of Laurel's, Gigi (Jamison) Berg.  She started blogging in January after a tragic accident near Mission, BC.  Her husband, Myron Berg, was killed on impact.  Gigi was the least hurt and is with their four children still in hospital. Blogging is a way of sharing this experience with others and a therapy of sorts as she struggles to  deal with this drastic change in their lives.  She has touched many lives as she shares her feelings and her faith in God so openly. She has a real gift for writing and reading her blog is almost like reading a novel. Sadly, it's a true story, one that Gigi never thought she'd be going through.

My own blog will celebrate its first anniversary this month so I'll have to think of something special to do for that.  Thank you to all you faithful readers, known and unknown.
