A FRIGID FRIDAY!

I have two birthday posts to do for tomorrow but it's time for a little update on life at 411 2nd Street in Weyburn so we'll get in a quick blog before bedtime.

We just watched the SK vs team Canada curling game and were disappointed that SK couldn't pull off a win after starting out strong.  They'll have another chance tomorrow so we'll be watching once more.

I brought my sewing machine back on Tuesday and actually finished one quilt top today.  The blocks were 12 inch ones so it didn't take too long to get 35 of them sewn together to make a 60" x 80" top.  The goal is to get 100 quilts done by our Ladies Aid this winter and we are well on the way.

We drove to Torquay on Monday morning in time for morning coffee with the quilters.  After another great  potluck dinner we worked away until it was time for our Faith Circle to meet for our monthly Bible study.  During the rest of the year we meet in our homes, but when quilting is on it works well to have our study in the afternoon.  Narrie was our hostess and served a yummy cherry cheese cake.  Teresa was there to help with tying.  Last Monday was our regular day for quilting and circle but all was put off a week because of David Halvorson's funeral at Trinity, Torquay that day.

We stayed at the farm overnight as we planned to attend the funeral service for Esther Graefer at Trinity Estevan on Tuesday afternoon.  Esther and Clara, Howard's mother, were first cousins.  Their dad's were brothers, Anton and Lauritz.  We visited the Bergum farm in Norway so will post a picture of the log house that still stands.  Estevan is currently without a pastor so Pastor Cicely led the service.   It was good to visit with family and friends over coffee in the fellowship hall.

I actually finished my yearly letter today, too late for Christmas or New Years but it will get off anyway. I started stuffing envelopes while watching the curling game and want to get them in the mail on Monday.  If we get to Torquay for quilting, we'll make a quick trip to Ambrose and mail the US ones there as they go so much faster that way.  I'll have mail to pick up there too.

Well, this is it for tonight.  Tomorrow there are three family birthdays so Happy Birthday Lindsay, Rylan and cousin Edith.  I'll work on those in the morning!
