Monday morning blog

I came down to "the woodshed" last night to do my blog, but the computer was so slow that I gave up and came back this morning.

It was two weeks ago today that I moved up to Weyburn.  Somehow it seems longer!  I guess these cold, snowy days partially account for this. Also, I've had a cough this past week so haven't felt like doing much.  My ribs are sore from coughing but no sore throat or even other cold symptoms. My voice is somewhat croaky so you might think you have the wrong number if you phone here!

Howard came home for the weekend and spent two nights. The Dr. plans to discharge him this week, but I don't know what day that will be.  Tomorrow he has two appointments in Regina so we are planning to take the bus up for those.

On Saturday morning Kirk came up and took us out to Smitty's for brunch.  Clare and Abbey joined us so that was a nice treat.  Kirk left around noon as Carter had hockey in Carnduff at three.

Milestone rink was busy on Sat. as it was their annual Junion Hockey Day with each hockey team having a game.  Dawson's team missed out on their game as the power went off during their scheduled time.  Good thing it came on in an hour .  Ashley enjoyed going to a friend's house as this was Laurel and Greg's week to serve in the rink kitchen.  They'll be glad that week is over!

We watched some of the Continential Cup of curling on the weekend from St. Albert, AB.  Last night Norway played Kevin Martin.  The Norsk team were not allowed to wear their "fancy pants" for this competition, black pants are the rule.  It was a good game , but Norway lost to Martin, as they did at the Olympics too.

Howard had an assessment done last Wednesday by a medical social worker from Sun Country Health Region. It involved answering a lot of questions. Clare and I were present for this too.  When Howard comes home, they will arrange a visit each week to a day hospital program.  He will spend a day at the Weyburn Nursing Home, take part in activities, have a whirlpool bath, a hot meal, forenoon and afternoon coffee, coming home at four o'clock.  All this for $8.  That will give him a change and will be a "day off" for me, with time to run errands, go shopping or whatever needs to be done.  Sounds like a great program.

I am looking forward to getting down to Torquay one of these days but sounds like there's a lot of snow down that way.  Maybe I'll wait for Clare to go down with his four wheel drive!  He is off to Brandon tomorow to a farm show.

Well, I guess that's about it for today.  I'll try and do more writing this week!
