| "Country Kids" entertaining at the Folk School in Førde, Norway with a line dance and a country song |
Tomorrow is back to school for our grandkids. Laurel says it feels like New Years Eve and that makes sense as a new school year starts for our twelve grandchildren. Bram is in grade eleven, Dawson, Holly, Abbey and Carter in grade nine, Eric in grade seven, Lindsay and JJ in grade six, Ben in grade five, Jamie in grade three, Ashley in grade two and Nora, soon three years old, moved to the next level at Barnehage.
We were busy with harvest last week. Kirk and Carter helped out for three days. They were doing durum on our east land. Today Clare moved one combine to the land that he rents about 19 miles west of here to start on the lentils. The canola is done here at home. Gerry and Alan are finishing up the durum over east and will then move to the flax.
Abbey, Lindsay and Jamie were here last week too. They made a batch of "Oreo" cookies on Saturday. Here they are in the process.

Jodi brought out KFC supper on Friday and on Saturday we had a joint supper with Jodi and Shauna helping me. We had smoked sausage from Carlyle, perogies, veggies with dip, coleslaw and cherry cake for dessert.(we said it was an expensive meal as there were wages for three cooks!) I'll be on my own this week but only three men to feed.
The forecast is for 31ºC for tomorrow, 34ºC on Wednesday and back to the twenties for the rest of the week. A few farmers are finished so it is an early harvest this year. That is, if we don't get a rainy spell in the next couple weeks.
My blog posts are getting to be Monday posts so that will likely happen next week too. It's a very special Monday - Labour Day, as well as birthdays for Nora, Abbey and Ardis! We mailed a parcel to Nora last Saturday, a card to Ardis today and Abbey will likely be spending her special day at the farm with us so will get her present then. September 1 is our nephew Jason Sanford's birthday so we will be thinking of you on your special day and of Blaine who isn't there to celebrate this birthday with you. It's a reminder that every birthday is special and we need to celebrate the gift of life. None of us has a guarantee of living to a "ripe old age".
I almost forgot to update you on our water problem. Thanks to a new submersible pump we are able to shower again as of last Friday. Thanks for getting the water running again, Bob Cranna, with help from Clare and Alan.
