SIX MONTHS!

Our visitor this week
I didn't get a picture of us last Friday but it was a special day - our 6 months anniversary!  We went out for supper to Boston Pizza in Estevan.  That eating place won our as it has many TV's and there was a Blue Jays versus Yankees ball game on that night! The Jays winning streak came to an end after 12 games but they won one of the three against the first place Yankees so are still doing well.

On Saturday morning we learned that Sandra and Merle were coming for the weekend.  Such a nice surprise to have a pre harvest visit.  Their crop isn't quite ready and neither was ours so it was a timely visit.  Sandra had done lots of baking for the farmers market in Frontier on Fridays.  She brought some tasty treats for us - lefse, butterhorns, and homemade Oreo cookies.  Yummy!  They didn't last long.

On Sunday it was my turn to play for morning service and to serve for the coffee fellowship to follow.  It was a cookie day with ginger cookies, chocolate chip and a package of Oreo cookies.  We sang Happy Birthday to Ray Daae who turned 85 on Saturday.  He and Verna drove to church in their 1953 Ford "courting truck".

Laurel and Ashley arrived in the early afternoon.  Ashley was happy to have Abbey here for company.  She was excited to sleep in Clare and Jodi's new camper and chose the top bunk.  Laurel went back home after supper and Ashley stayed to attend Vacation Bible School in Torquay this week.

We facetimed Todd and Kristy on Sunday and got to visit a bit with Nora this morning.  Classes at the Folk School started today so it was back to work for Todd and Kristy and off to Barnehage as usual for Nora.  They were looking forward a visit from three special visitors today - Howard's cousins - Vangie Bergum, her granddaughter and Carol (Bergquist).  They are visiting several Bergum relatives across Norway.  Here's a picture of them in the area where the Bergum family resided before coming to North America.  Next they will spending a few days in Oslo.

Kirk's spent a week at Clear Lake the first week in August after arriving there on Jamie's 8th birthday, July 31.  Here's a picture of her on her special day and a recent one of their family.  She is having a party in Lampman on Wednesday so Ashley and I are planning to attend. She might have to miss part of the afternoon at Vacation Bible School.

Sandra and Merle left today just after lunch so their visit was short, but sweet.  This was their first visit since Alan and I were married so that made our six month anniversary weekend extra special.

Sandra shared a picture of a Norsk version of a woodpile done in the round.

The durum fields are about ready to harvest with canola not far behind.  Just a little problem with a combine and they will be ready to try it tomorrow.  I hope it gets off to a good start guys!  Alan has been getting some lessons in tractor driving so they must have a job in mind for him too.  He left Frontier area in 1972 so tractors and farming have seen a lot of changes since then!

When sisters get together it's not "early to bed" but it will be tonight so I will sign off for now.  I pray that all goes well for the harvesters and their families. I will update again next weekend.
