THREE WEEKS!

Clare loading grain at sunset on March 6, his Grandpa Erickson's birthday
(Then he curled that evening so remembered Grandpa then too)

March 7 marked our three weeks anniversary!  We celebrated by taking the UHAUL truck back to Estevan, picking up Alan's wedding ring that had been resized, got groceries at the Co-op and then went to The Flats for a good lunch.

There are two Brier curling games on Sat.  Saskatchewan lost to Team Canada in an extra end so that was a tough loss.  Tonight Northern Ontario played Newfoundland/Labrador so Alan is watching that while I catch up on two weeks  without a blog post!

We left for Bon Accord on Monday, Feb. 27 and drove the 600 miles that day.  Alan had gotten rid of quite a bit of stuff and had many boxes packed too so that helped a lot.  The trailer is for sale so it had to be cleaned as well so we spent a few days cleaning bathrooms, cupboards etc. as well as doing more packing. Scrubbing floors was last on the agenda after the UHAUL truck was loaded last Friday.  Two fellows that Alan had worked with came over after work and had the truck loaded in an hour.  They came back the next day at noon to load the mattress as we needed a place to sleep that night!

We had tea with Ardis, Kris and Sam one evening and brought Ardis the Singer sewing machine table from the treadle machine that her mother used.  She had many plants in her apartment and is enjoying the sunny south windows.

The mens Brier curling started when we were at Bon Accord so that took us away from cleaning and packing for a few hours every day.  We spent more time in Bon Accord than we had planned as a potential buyer for the trailer came over to look at it.  A real estate agent also came over to put a value on it.  The day we left Alan met with the buyer and a lawyer to sign papers, but the deal hinges on whether an engineer's inspection deems the trailer road worthy as the buyer wants to move it to a lot in Opal, a nearby town.  The trailer is 25 years old, just the limit allowed for older trailers to be moved into that county!  We are still waiting to hear the verdict.  If it can't be moved, the real estate lady will handle the sale.

We had to go to Edmonton to pick up the UHAUL truck and I wasn't keen on following Alan through the city with my Escape.  But he said "I'm not walking" so I braved it and all went well.  It was good practice for following him the six hundred miles back to the farm.  All went well there too.  We left around 2:30 Wed. after  the meeting and just went as far as Lloydminster.  It was COLD but roads were good and we left there a little after 8 the next morning.  Temperatures warmed up as we drove south and we were back at the farm shortly after six p.m.

We were tired, so didn't do any unpacking that night.  Clare was hauling grain on Friday so he helped Alan unload the bedroom suite that afternoon.  Most of the things are still in the garage as I need to get rid of some things to make room for Alan's.  We will take some things to Second Chance or to the Salvation Army store in Estevan.

We went and looked at flooring before we came home on Sat.  The Floor Store had been out and measured the rooms earlier this year but I couldn't make up my mind.  Now I have someone to help with those decisions and we even have similar tastes so perhaps we will place an order for office and living-room flooring next week.

Now an update on the rest of the family while we were away.  Kirk's flew from Minot on Feb. 14 for a holiday in Palm Springs and Disneyland.  They ended up staying longer than planned as Carter had a seizure at the Ducks hockey game.  He had never had one before but had good medical attention at the arena and was rushed to a medical centre, then moved to Loma Linda Children's Hospital when he had additional seizures.  Extensive testing was done right away and the diagnosis was Focal onset epilepsy.  It is very treatable and since getting the medication adjusted Carter has had no more seizures since leaving California.  He went back to school on Monday.  He goes to bed earlier than he used to and won't be playing hockey for a while but we are so thankful that he got such excellent care and that Kirk's travel insurance covered the costs.  It would be interesting to see the bill!

Kirk's got home just in time for Lindsay's 11th birthday.  Kirk spent his 11th birthday in Disneyland but Lindsay was more than ready to come home for hers!  She even got the mukluks she had been wanting.  I am having trouble transferring picture so will add them later when I figure out how to do it!

Ashley turned 7 on March 2, and Eric was 12 on Sunday.  We didn't get to celebrate with either of them so have three birthdays to catch up on.

We are enjoying mild weather with a forecast of temperatures in the double digits by the weekend.  Our snow is gone except for drifts in the trees or ditches.

On Sunday we drove to Weyburn after church and watched Clare's team win their final game in the men's bonspiel.  His prize was a $75 gift certificate from Mel's on Third so he can choose something new to wear.  Then we enjoyed KFC and watched the final brier game at Clare and Jodi's.  It was a thriller, going to an extra end with the final rock determining Team Canada as the winner over the team from Northern Ontario.  The skip for Team Canada was originally from SK and the rest of the rink were from Alberta so we were cheering for them.

Well, I better get this published so you will know that I am still doing my blog after two weeks without an update!  I hope to see you again next Sunday or Monday.  Have a great week enjoying this balmy "spring" weather.
