HOLIDAYS!

Moose heading south as I was heading north this morning

School is over, let the holidays begin!  My family is off to a good start.

Todd, Kristy and Nora's flight on Icelandair touched down in Edmonton on Saturday at 5:32 p.m.  There was even an extra seat available for Nora, who travels free until she turns two on Sept. 7.  She slept part of the way so continues to be a good traveller.  I won't see them until we meet at Cypress Park on July 14th for our Erickson family reunion.  Can't wait!  I'll try to add a video of the little traveller with her carry-on but may not be able to as it seems to want to play continuously with no sound! It's cute anyway.

Kirk, Shauna, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie are camping at Kenosee until the reunion. Kirk works out of the Carlyle office so won't have far to work the next two weeks.  Last night they were in Dauphin, Manitoba for an outdoor Countryfest that featured Blake Shelton.  He is Lindsay's favourite singer so the tickets were a birthday gift to her.  The pouring rain didn't stop them from going and the rain even let up during Blake's performance!  They came prepared with rain ponchos and boots.  ( They are good Norwegians, as they say there's no bad weather, only bad clothes!)  Here they are all ready for Blake.

Laurel, Greg, Dawson, Eric and Ashley spent Friday evening in Lampman for their nephew and cousin Lee's high school graduation.  The rain held off there too and they had an enjoyable evening celebrating this special occasion.

On Monday afternoon Dawson and Eric are off for a week at Dallas Valley Ranch camp, just north of Regina near Lumsden. It is the third year there for Dawson and Eric's second.  The camp had its beginnings in 1979 when Albert and Jean Lutzer donated the land after the tragic death of their young son, Dallas.  They wanted to develop a Christian camp in memory of Dallas. Hence this tragedy was used to bless many young people over the years as the camp has grown and developed to accommodate over
2000 guests each year.

Laurel and Ashley plan to meet me at Oungre Park for the Canada Day Celebrations on Tuesday.  The local groups - The Daae Family and the Hansen Trio, are my favourite groups of the featured singers.
Abbey's final ball tournament of the season was partially rained out, to be finished at a later date.  Here are some pictures from the first day of play in Regina.  They plan to join Kirk's at Kenosee later this week.

I guess I've covered all the family so I'll sign off for now.  Have a wonderful Canada Day fellow Canadians and a wonderful 4th of July to my American family and friends.
