| Ashley's big hug for her dad on Fathers Day |
I spent a quiet Fathers Day at home, alone, but so thankful to have my sons and son-in-law enjoying this day with their families. After our morning service at Trinity we learned of a fatal plane crash north of Torquay. A father and his young married son from the Oungre area died when their plane crashed in a field. How devastating for the Wimmer family to lose these loved ones on a day set aside to honour fathers. Phil was 59, his son Brad, 29. The plane was on its way to Lampman for the annual Fathers Day fly-in breakfast. There is a Torquay connection as Jerome and Marge Stepp's grandson, Blair Stepp, is married to Phil and Charlene's daughter, Brittany. The plane landed near the farm once owned by Gladys and Art Bergum.
Now it is Monday and time to do some yardwork before it rains, if the forecast is right, later in the week. Jodi came out and cut some grass while I did the trimming. We also cleaned up some junk around the shop and other places.
I just talked to Shauna and she told me about an unusual picture that showed up on her camera last Thursday. She was having trouble with the zoom on her camera and finally decided to just take a picture and see if it would work. Here's the picture:
The cross in the foreground caught her attention. She checked the ground in that area. There was nothing there. It happened at Jamie's windup for ball with the kids playing the parents. It's a mystery which may never be explained.
This is short, but sometimes I don't have much to say and sometimes I ramble on and on. Have a good week. My thoughts and prayers are with the many many loved ones and friends who are mourning the loss of this father and son. It's a reminder how precious life is.
I'll close with some "Land of Living Skies" pictures.
