Last Sunday in February!

February has just flown by!  Spring will be here before we know it.  That's okay by me.  The thaw on the weekend has improved road conditions so that's good too.

The above picture shows you what is just to the right of my computer.  Flylady suggested that after cleaning off that space, you should put something special there.  So that's what I did - my new Scrabble mug with pens, the special glass heart from Marilyn and an unusual heart shaped rock.  The doily was the only piece of hardanger that Mom made so is very special.  This should be good motivation to keep that space tidy.

We had the annual meeting for Trinity this morning, followed by a potluck dinner.  After clean-up, we sat around and visited before everyone headed home.  The average attendance for 2012 was twenty-five, much improved.  I remember a Sunday when Howard, Ashley and I were the only ones there!!  Many improvements have taken place starting with the parsonage.  Insulation and gyprock have been installed on outside walls in the church offices and entry.  That led to painting!  A new furnace was installed and new flooring is waiting to be put in the entry, hallway and office.  An average of 14 children attend the Kids Club on Mondays after school.  Quilting happens every Tuesday.  I am thankful that I can still attend worship services, Bible studies and quilting in Torquay!

This evening I finished pinning a denim/cotton prints quilt so it is ready for the sewing machine tomorrow.  This is my first sewing project for a long time, in fact, since Howard's passing.  I have found it difficult to get at the many projects that are waiting for me!  But now that I've started, that seems to be the hardest step.  I'll add a picture when I have the top all sewn together.

Tonight I enjoyed watching the final curling game in the Tournament of Hearts from Kingston, Ontario.  I was happy to see the young Ontario team win.  The skip is just twenty-three and was able to defeat a long time curler, Jennifer Jones from Manitoba.  Saskatchewan didn't make playoffs, came in fifth.  I'm not an avid curling fan, or sports fan of any kind.  But I usually don't miss the playoff games whether it's curling or football.  I like to see Canada's best in action.  The men's Brier starts next weekend in Edmonton so I'll be keeping track of that one too.  Besides, I need to know something about these games to be able to have conversations with my daughter, sons and grandchildren.  They didn't get their love of sports from me!

Clare plans to come out to the farm tomorrow to move more grain so I'll have company for a couple days.  On Wed. our Torquay Grannies are singing at St. Joseph's Special Care Home for their birthday party.  We always enjoy our visits there.  Have a great week and enjoy the milder weather.
