THANKSGIVING IN AMERICA

The days seem to fly by between posts and I guess that's good.  I spent an overnight at Kirk and Shauna's on Tuesday.  I hadn't been there for ages so thought that I better go while the roads and weather aren't a problem.  I also got to see Carter play hockey last night in Lampman.  It wasn't a very exciting game though as Lampman/Arcola really out matched the Carlyle team.  It was 13 - 0 when the first period was over.  They quit putting up the score after that.  The goalie for Carlyle was constantly bombarded with shots while Lampman's goalie had a very boring game.  He could have sat down and read a book or played a more lively game on his ipod!  The person who enjoyed the game the most was probably Grandma Louise (Rasmussen) who won $80 in the fifty/fifty draw!

Jamie didn't have Kindergarten today so she entertained Grandma while Shauna spent the morning at work.  We played Hedbanz, a game where we took turns asking questions to discover what the cartoon on our headband was.  I was better at that game than the memory game of finding the matching cards that were laid out on the table.  Grandma always lost that one.

After lunch I headed to Estevan.  I looked around at flooring and bathroom vanities at Home Hardware but just ended up buying a bottle of lemon oil to refresh some cedar walls and a roll of brown paper to wrap some Christmas presents.  The rest will have to wait.

I went online and ordered my bus ticket from Regina to Brooks.  It's printed now and safely in my purple bag until my trip on December 6.  It was more than $20 cheaper by booking 14 days ahead.

The Ledene family left today for http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepa/index.html  Just click on this link to see where they are holidaying in sunny Mexico.  Looks great doesn't it?

Jodi and two of her friends are planning to head for Minot tomorrow afternoon to take in the Black Friday specials the day after American Thanksgiving.  The forecast isn't great for tonight and tomorrow with possible rain and snow.  Canadian stores near the US border are trying to keep customers on this side of the border by also staging "Black Friday sales" here in Canada.  I think that all this emphasis on shopping is taking away the purpose of Thanksgiving weekend.  I'm going to end this post with an "Only in America" statement that I saw on Pintrest today.
