SUNDAY APRIL 29

Howard's new chair

I had intentions of starting this blog on Saturday night so I added this picture and that's as far as I got.  In the afternoon I had watched the DVD that Todd and Kristy made of the pictures, video plus added music of Howard and Todd's "Father and Son" trip to London and Paris just three years ago.  The contrast of Howard on the "London Eye" and the "Eiffel Tower" now confined to this chair kind of got to me and I wasn't up to blogging after that.

But today is a new day so I'm back to finish up while it's still Sunday.  It's been a very good day.  We had a special morning worship service at Trinity with the praise group from Faith Lutheran in Estevan leading our songs.  All but one were very familiar to me so it was great to have lots of good singing for the service. Pastor Danny had such a good message on the gospel from John 10.  He had experience raising sheep so could relate to the relationship between the shepherd and sheep.  We are like sheep and need Jesus as our shepherd to seek us, lead us and guide us.  After service we enjoyed a potluck dinner with good fellowship.

Then I was off to Weyburn to take in Abbey's dance recital.  Laurel and Ashley met me at the Weyburn Junior High.  There were 49 numbers on the program, but they went like clock work,  one right after the other with no glitches at all, a very well organized event.  Abbey was in four different dances with four different costumes from the lovely dresses for the "Summer Eve"ballet to humorous outfits for the "Nerd Alert".  All were very well done.

Clare stayed until after Abbey's last number and got back to the house in time to watch the overtime period of the Flyer/Devils game with Todd on Facetime.  The only problem was that Todd's game on the computer was about 15 seconds behind Clare's TV game so Clare was cheering the overtime goal by the Flyers and Todd and Rolf hadn't seen it yet!  Not to worry, they were all happy about the result.

Jodi was had taped the golf game from New Orleans as Weyburn golfer, Graham Delaet, was doing well and ended up tied for fourth.  Graham had been a student of Jodi's a few years back, the first Weyburn golfer to make it to this level of the game.

We enjoyed barbecued burgers, salad, angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries plus red Jello with a star on top in honour of Abbey's dancing skills.  Then I drove home, followed by Laurel and Ashley.  There's no school in Milestone tomorrow so it was a good chance for Laurel to make a quick trip down this way.  She'll visit Howard tomorrow on her way home.  Ashley will stay with Grandma for a few days.  I think it would be fun to take her home via STC.  They have a $10 special for people 60 and over this month so I can ride from Estevan to Milestone for $10 and Ashley goes for free.  Can't beat that deal!

Well, I better end this while it's still Sunday!  Laurel took pictures so I'll add them tomorrow when she has a chance to put them on her computer.  Have a great week.  We had about 3/4 of an inch of rain over the weekend so no field work for the first part of this week anyway.
